(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel says he’s going to sue the Trump Justice Dept on Monday over its new Sanctuary City rules.
New rules just out prevent Sanctuary Cities like Chicago to get certain law enforcement grants and so the mayor says Chicago will file suit to kill the rules and get the millions in question.
In an interview with WLS-AM for Sunday’s edition of “Bill Cameron and Connected to Chicago”, the mayor said “We are not going to be put in a position of choosing who we are as a welcoming city and strengthening our police dept. These are exactly the kind of training and technology you want to be investing in right now and also do it in a way that the community’s involved.”
The Mayor also tells Cameron that he’s no longer Bruce Rauner’s friend, even as Rauner said this week he still considers the two of them to be friends.

Actually, I think Trump should’ve file suit against them.
Reminder: A few years ago Arizona tried to enforce our immigration laws (because Obama wouldn’t). Obama filed suit and the Supreme Court ruled that immigration policy falls under the Federal government. It seems to me that, by extension, cities would be as unable to set their own policies as Arizona.
This so called “mayor” wants to see Chicago destroyed, doesn’t he?
Southside’s already a ghetto, won’t take that much to finish the job up north.
Liberals better be careful what they ask for. Some conservative cities might decide they’re aren’t going to comply with selected Federal regulations either.

Cutting off funds is not enough. The law needs to be crystal clear that any government official at a State, County or Municipal level, including elected officials, law enforcement and bureaucrats, who fails to report the presence of an illegal alien be treated the same as someone harbouring a fugitive. The same law should apply to any business who hires an employer without verifying that they are legally entitled to work in the US. Make it a felony and start jailing the Rahm Emmanuel’s and CEO’s of the agri-business conglomerates.
I agree. They are harboring criminals and should be treated appropriately and I think federal SWAT raids would be appropriate considering how leftists have used SWAT raids against people for supporting the Republican party.
