Senate blocks Trump from making recess appointments
Axios ^ | August 3, 2017 | Susan Walsh

Posted on 08/03/2017 6:32:33 PM PDT by Pinkbell

The Senate moved unanimously to block President Trump from making appointments during the August break this evening. Democrats had said they'd make such a move after reports emerged that Trump was considering replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions during the recess.

The Senate agreed to hold pro forma sessions throughout the recess. This procedure was also used to block appointments during the Obama administration.

Worth noting: the announcement was made by moderate Republican Lisa Murkowski, who split from Trump over health care. The Senate also made a slew of confirmations and passed several measures before shutting down for the summer.

Another update: The Senate will not hold any legislative sessions until September. Mitch McConnell had previously intended to delay the break until August 11 to allow the now-stalled health care plan to move forward.

Corker, Hatch, Heller and Flake in 2018

Graham and Alexander in 2020

Murkowsky, Hoeven and Rubio in 2022

I’m beginning to think that Trump’s only option is to form his own political party now and invite any loyal Republicans who wish to join him.

Restart the Tea Party from scratch with Trump as their main cheerleader. Hold rallies all over the country. Primary all fake Republicans in 2018.

Let’s see. We get bills to make Charlie Guard a citizen, to preserve the Russian witch hunt and now to block Republican appointments. They don’t do anything to help the majority of people. This Congress us garbage!

A fellow freeper stated the President has the authority to keep them in session; not a phony one, but to keep them personally from going home.

Gee if only the Republicans controlled the Senate—they could support our President.

Oh wait...

While those punks are on recess he should hold mega rallies in their states and call out the backstabbing republican traitors by name.

Fine by me. Trump has the upper hand as long as he has his 65 million supporters out there. His enemies are just postponing the inevitable.

Please clarify,

Why is it fine by you?

What are those supporters going to do?

What inevitable is posponed?

That’s okay.

They’ve been put on notice by the rise of Trump.

we have the military and the military command

I’m not so sure about that anymore, FRiend. Certainly the politized General Officers have no problem carrying water for radical Democrats.
