WASHINGTON — Two members of the Senate Judiciary Committee are moving to protect Special Counsel Robert Mueller's job, putting forth new legislation that aims to ensure the integrity of current and future independent investigations.

Republican Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina and Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Delaware plan to introduce the legislation Thursday. The bill would allow any special counsel for the Department of Justice to challenge his or her removal in court, with a review by a three-judge panel within 14 days of the challenge.

The bill would apply retroactively to May 17, 2017 — the day Mueller was appointed by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein to investigate allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible ties between Russia and Donald Trump's campaign.

Do they expect POTUS to sign their little bill?

“Meaningless posturing by the Swamp Senate. The president would need to sign such legislation for it to take effect.”

Sadly I believe their are enough Republicans that will join the dimoKKKRATS to over ride his veto.

[Do they expect POTUS to sign their little bill?]

Instead of signing it, Trump should wipe his ass with it after Taco Bowl night, and send the sh*t-stained paper back to Congress...

I agree. If so called republicans care to destroy the President, and so doing their own party, maybe the President should just push the envelope. Expose them, and hasten the inevitable in hopes he (Trump) can survive. Possibly start a new party based around the deplorables.

Tillis and Coons are co-conspirators in the attempted coup.

Treason.

More attempts to handcuff the executive branch. We NEVER saw this during Obama’s seizure of power.

Sickening.

Another reason to abandon GOP and go with pro-Trump politicians.

Yeah, like he did the Russian sanctions bill....if it has a veto proof majority in Congress, it’ll happen.

Ex post facto law.

Unconstitutional.

This could work to Trump’s advantage. He could sign it. Declare that Mueller has significant conflicts of interest and list them for everyone to see. Then fire him and dare him to appeal.

If Muller appeals and loses then he could be charged with violation of the special counsel law which prohibits an attorney with conflicts of interest from taking a position as special counsel. If he appeals and wins, Trump could take it to the Supreme Court.

This law would actually make it easier for Trump to fire him. If I were Trump, I would publicly support the law. Then watch them pull it from committee.

Of course they’re doing everything in their powers to get rid of the outsider because he might find out how much of our tax dollars are being shipped out to their off shore accounts.

Ex post facto laws are expressly forbidden by the United States Constitution in Article 1, Section 9, Clause 3 (with respect to federal laws) and Article 1, Section 10 (with respect to state laws).

No doubt Trump knows what he is doing. No doubt the enemy does, as well.

Trump is not letting us down, but is frozen in place.

Unfortunately the FBI issues forth it’s work under the auspice of the Executive Branch of government.

Count ‘em. That’s all three branches of government in concert against this president.

When you have the Legislative and the Judicial branches in concert with the loaded NeverTrump FBI, who is itself in the Executive branch, the presidency is essentially surrounded by three powers all together greater than his own.

I will be shocked that the Mueller team does not come up with faux but impeachable offenses, but, before then, should Trump ever pull the trigger and fire Mueller then Congress will take over Mueller’s case against Trump.

With the clock ticking, Sessions remains deliberately silent on these issues while seen doing a great job on Tier 2 domestic items, but delivering nothing of force against a Silent Coup in progress.

Mueller and Comey are BFFs.

That’s strictly forbidden by the special counsel statute.

Laws don’t apply to Lieberals.

It’s well past time for a whole lot more than this. DJT waited too long. What did he think, that they were going to act honorably? For goodness sake, the whole damn place is acting to take him down.
