MINNEAPOLIS - One person is dead and others are trapped under rubble after a building exploded and collapsed at Minnehaha Academy.
The explosion happened at Minnehaha's upper campus on 3100 West River Parkway in Minneapolis.

The article says something about a possible gas leak.
“There was a gas leak and explosion at the Upper School,” Minnehaha Academy confirmed. “Emergency responders are on the scene. This only affects the Upper School. If you need to pick up a person from the school, pick up on Edmond Blvd. We will keep you informed as we learn more.”

A planned gas leak attack is or could be a good why to conduct a terrorist attack.
Not saying it was an attack but would be a good cover story.
Regular school is not in session, but they do offer summer programs through August 11, according to their website.
Now saying 2 unaccounted for. Also, no confirmed fatalities. 4 in the hospital, 1 critical.
One report has the cause as a "severed" gas line --- not broken but "severed." Sounds like it could be deliberate. It's a private Christian school and we know there is an increasing population of a certain immigrant group in the area.

That was my first thought.
Report said the gas company was on scene at the time of the explosion. Sounds like construction related.
The gas company may have responded to the report of a gas leak and just arrived when it occurred. The investigation will hopefully provide answers to the cause including whether the line had been deliberately severed.

If there was a gas leak reported, then what the heck was ANYONE doing in the building?
INVESTIGATIVE: Permits Found for Gas Piping and Meter Hookups at Minnehaha Academy
Hennepin County Emergency Management confirmed Wednesday morning’s explosion at Minnehaha Academy was “caused by natural gas from contracted construction being done on the building.”
KSTP’s investigative team has looked into any gas-related permits at Minnehaha Academy, the Minneapolis school that was the site of an explosion.
Permits were pulled for gas piping and meter hookup at the school on June 2.
