Marco Rubio gave a televised address broadcast throughout Venezuela on Globovisión on Monday to express solidarity with the Venezuelan people following a sham election designed to tighten socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro’s grip on power.

“In this struggle, know neither we nor you are alone. Since last night’s fraudulent exercise, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Mexico and other nations from across the world have joined in announcing they do not recognize this constituent assembly,” he said in his Spanish-language address.

“Ultimately, the way out of the tragedy before you is not violence or armed conflict. Venezuela is only a free and fair election away from a better future … For Nicolás Maduro, who I am sure is watching, the current path you are on will not end well for you.”

“My closing message to you is this. You are not alone,” he added.

As a former occupant of the WH might say: "Do they speak Venezualish down there?" Guess little marco was talking about his buddies on the dementocrat side of the chamber when he mentioned 'you aren't alone"? As for little marco being "sure" maduro was watching.......don't flatter yourself.

War, death and destruction of all that is Maduro is the only answer.

Absent death, maduro will alway prevail

He’s right - most of the Democrat-controlled cities and states are heading in the same direction if not there already.

I wish our legislators would focus on good legislation, and not on conducting foreign policy.

I’m conflicted - Chavez and Maduro were, certainly in the beginning, were elected and supported by Venezuelans. People cheered on their collectivist slogans. They weren’t imposed on the country by aliens and they come from Venezuela’s own political culture.

They are providing a great real-time example to the world of the evils of socialism, which seems to constantly need one. It certainly has shut-up people like Sean Pean and Cher, which is a benefit.

Let Venezuela enjoy its socialism, good and hard.

His speech was needed. I would have preferred Cruz to have given it. If Venezuela can get it right, slim to none odds, it could be a beginning. However he lacked the key ingredient that would really move the odds, which is Jesus Christ. Cruz would have mentioned a call to faith, which is the only way to win.

“Venezuela is only a free and fair election away from a better future … “

Except for all the Cubans and Iranians there. The Venezuelans there will hear this and give up hope that the US will ever back them in ridding their country of the jihadi/ communists ruining their country.

Huh? Rubio has consistently been good on rejecting Obama policies on Cuba, VZ and leftwing dictators in general, and has been quite supportive of Trump in some recent situations. And he actually is listened to.

That said, the Venezuelans had one brief moment a few months ago when what is going to be a bloody civil war could have been averted - and it was sabotaged by that most leftist of self-proclaimed world leaders, Pope Francis, who threw Maduro a lifeline that has enabled him to come back and secure power in such a way that bloodshed will be the only recourse against him.

The Venezuelan people CHOSE Socialism... they chose to use other people's money' to fund their own greed.

In short - they made their bed... let's let them lie in that bed. Americans are tired of stepping in to these situations to mop up stupid choices. If an earthquake hits - fine - let's help. A natural disaster? Yep, we're there to help. But...

If a people chose to rob fellow citizens using a discredited system like socialism then 'good luck' fools... stew in your own juices. We're NOT taking you in - we're not feeding you - we're not going to 'stop the riots and killings'... You choose 'stupid' and you live with the choice.

Maybe if we started treating other countries of the world as if THEY WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN CHOICES, THEY WOULD START MAKING BETTER CHOICES.

The US has 535 different representatives in congress. So we should have at least 536 foreign policies, right? /sarc

I don’t have a problem with what he said. But when he goes there and says this, and McCain goes to Europe and trashes Trump and every other congress-scum feels free to go all over the world and say whatever they want, they aren’t doing their job representing their constituents.

I’m sure he considered as part of his “job” (in his mind and salary) as well as a resume builder to run for president. But he was not trying to fix Obamacare every second he was doing this and he was not working on tax reform. Which is more important to the people he represents?

He didn’t get elected president. He should be focused on representing his voters, not influencing foreign policy. Once congress has fixed all of our minor problems (obamacare, tax, illegal immigration) they will have free time to influence other countries (but probably should still leave that to the elected POTUS). He can build his foreign policy resume for his next run for president AFTER has shown he can have a positive influence on US policy (congress).

Seriously. Our schools here in FL stink, and every time I go in to Tampa I am seeing more and more women in burkas. Clean up our yard first, Rubio.

what the hell is wrong with Rubio?

It’s not his place to address another nation on behalf of the USA...

He(and we) should do every thing we can short of invasion to bring them down. I’m angry that Fidel died of natural causes. Stirring the pot via Rubio is smart. He can talk like BJ/Obama. Let the other nations follow(Brazil-Argentina-Cuba) when it comes to a head. Could Rubio get his executive experience as President(e) of Cuba? The excrement will hit the fan-hopefully soon.

As for the goon supporters I say take names. Make them public.

Beg to differ...this was probably coordinated with the WH. Rubio is looked upon in S.A. as the American dream by many of the stable countries. To what end....time will tell.
