New York City couple leaps to their death because they 'can't afford' health care

A New York City couple jumped to their deaths from the 9th-floor window of a 17-story office building because they couldn't afford health care, according to their suicide notes.

The Daily Mail reports that eyewitness Perry Kim, 49, was outside the Murray Hill building at around 5:30 a.m. on Friday morning when he heard screaming and saw two people falling from the sky.

The bodies of 53-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were found shortly thereafter on 33rd Street between Park and Madison avenues, according to the New York Post.

Heartbreaking suicide notes were discovered in the pockets of both the man and his wife, who were apparently driven to take their own lives by the stress of mounting doctors' bills.

"WE HAD A WONDERFUL LIFE," the man's note began. "Patricia and I had everything in life."

His note continued on to describe the couple's "financial spiral," saying they could no longer live with their "financial reality."

"We both have medical issues," his note continued. "We just can't afford the health care."

"Our kids are upstairs, please take care of them," the woman's note added.

The identities of both victims were not immediately released.

I didn’t realize the gravity of their situation until I read the article.

Murray Hill. Nice neighborhood.

Kids, how sad. I hope there was insurance.

And yes, after two years insurance does pay on suicide unless there is a particular exclusion.

If not for Obamacare they might have been able to buy a slimmed-down policy that at least covered mental health care......

The article is definitely a testament to the downward spiral healthcare has taken thanks to Obama.

This was Posted here a week ago.

The Couple had Financial issues, they didn’t commit Suicide simply because of their Health issues and expensive Health Insurance.

We are paying $2,000 a Month for our Healthcare Premiums and I have Leukemia. I think I’ll jump off the Roof, NOT.

Just another story to make the mean Republicans look bad. Obama and the Democrats are to blame but it slides off them like they were covered in Teflon.

I will concede that they had mental health issues. Screaming suggests that it may have been an assisted suicide for one of them.

They lived in the NYC (Manhattan) Financial District. Their kids went to a school that cost $30,000 a year.

I pay my own health care and have a really good one from a major companythat costs $2K a month. Not cheap but not worth jumping off a bldg.

All they had to do was MOVE. Especially from that armpit of the USA.

I don’t get why liberals are so upset with this. They usually like death. They can consider the two deaths either late, late term abortions or early death panels.

Thank goodness it wasn’t because of global warming.
They couldn’t pay their taxes both federal and state.

However, I do not think that anyone should jump to any conclusions...
