"The election of Donald Trump is really a kind of class rebellion against people like us, educated professionals who live in cities, who have cosmopolitan views about things," Zakaria said.
[snip]"He [Trump} knew that the election of a black president had stirred a kind of ugly racial animus. A small subset but he knew how to get them" Zakaria said.

Didn’t ~60% of college educated white men vote for Trump?
Zakaria is a Muslim. Enough said.
How exactly do you manage to win elections with a small subset?
When those are the people who actually show up and vote! :-)
Have you eaten this week Mr. Fareed?
If so, we haven’t rebelled yet.
Ah yes.... the first reason for everything is racism.
Didnt you know that Socialism is a Dog Whistle for Black?
When someone said that they hated Obamas socialistic administration they were really saying that they hated Obama because he was Black.
Fareed Zakaria should move back to India.
Can you imagine them at a PTA meeting...
Only 60%?
Although if I went to these ‘cosmopolitan’ areas and starting asking questions I’d be lucky to find one of these ‘educated’ types.
The ‘group think’ of inner cities is hardly a standard to cheer. The areas that I trust the least. The areas of high crime. The areas of high dependency on the government. Etc.
How many counties did Hillary win? Yeah, thought so. They’re going to try and change the system. So long as middle-America can vote against the coastal elites they’re going to try to change that.
Just because one attended a college or university does not mean one came out any smarter than he or she was before going in.
Especially with every deck of every card game stacked against you!
Out cheat the dumb hicks on the other side.
The Republican primary field had a black man who did fairly well (and is now part of the administration), a woman, two Hispanics, and a candidate of Indian heritage (all of whom are now helping the Trump administration). The ‘establishment white guys’, like Jeb, Graham, and Kasich didn't do well at all. Meanwhile, the Democrats colluded to get their chosen establishment white woman candidate the nomination.
Zakaria is also correct, to some extent, that people have been put off by the unwarranted arrogance of the foie gras and Bordeaux crowd who think of themselves - AND their opinions - as superior to those who grill hot-dogs, work hard jobs, and who are more concerned with putting food on the table and trying to make a better life for their children than with wine pairings or what's on Broadway.
The arrogance just drips from Zakaria when he self-describes as ‘educated’, and cosmopolitan. What do those terms even mean anymore? ‘Education’ has in many ways become the term that describes the ‘group think’ mentality of those with degrees from institutions that essentially indoctrinate - not open minds to new horizons.
People like Zakaria live delusional lives inside bubbles, all the while passing judgment on those who live outside the bubble and who are in so many cases living much more real lives.
This guy is dangerously close to reporting the truth. That is quite out-of-character.
Does he see this as a call to arms for other elitists, maybe for better ways to cheat to put down the revolting peasant revolt?
...election of a black president had stirred a kind of ugly racial animus. ..
No, the election of a socialist/communist has stirred a backlash among the true patriots.
Another Progressive believing ‘Elitist’ article dripping with condescension. No wonder they keep losing.
Intelligence. Knowledge. Wisdom.
Three *very* different things. You can get a degree and have ‘knowledge’, yet completely lack the other two. Likewise, you can have wisdom, yet have no formal education.
