NEW YORK -- They're the New York Yankees. They're worth billions. They're built on a foundation of championships stretching back more than a century.
There is just no way they dont go for it when another title is possible. This is the mandate any year, but it's even truer when they've only played in one playoff game since 2012. So the Yankees had to acquire Sonny Gray.
The Yankees, under Hal Steinbrenner, are a scary organization for the rest of the baseball. Steinbrenner has handed the player personnel keys over to his GM, Brian Cashman, and the results have been franchise-changing. A year ago, they were waving the white flag. A year later, they're positioned for championship flag No. 28.

As a fan of the Oakland Athletics, I wish Sonny well but I hope anyone but the Yankees wins this year.
It’s either the Yankees, Astros, or Indians will win the A.L. pennant.
And the Dodgers will slaughter them in the World Series.
I’m not a Yankee fan. But, just to see the standings, and the idea that before the season nobody expected them to be so competitive, this is shaping up to be a fun season for them. Young players such as Aaron Judge are getting a valuable year of experience in the big leagues and in a pennant race . I know there’s talk how George Steinbrenner expected a World Series every year. But whether they have a deep playoff run or not their young players are gaining good experience for the future
so what color is the sky in your dream world?
Yeah, all they’ve done is win 39 of their last 45 games.
Nevertheless, the Tigers will be kicking Yankee butt tonight.
sorry, I just hacked into Yes. the Tigers lost .
The Yankees pitching has been so so this year—hopefully this will be the right move....
MYGA!
Feel the power of the Dark Side...
Baloney...unfortunately.
The A’s get back two injured prospects, and not the best prospects the Yankees had - is this really the best they could do for a 27 year old starter who’s still under contract for 2 more years? I’ve been an A’s fan since I was a kid, but most years they don’t make it easy.
they haven’t played the yankees yet
Darvish’s last outing with the Rangers (giving up 10 runs) probably cost them the Dodgers’ best prospect.
At least the Tigers keep Mr. Upton.
