Secretary of Defense James Mattis has ordered a full review of any military training not directly relevant to warfighting.
Mattis told the services to conduct a review of the requirements for mandatory force training that does not directly support core tasks, according to a Friday memo obtained by Military Times.
In other words, Mattis wants a full examination of all the hours of burdensome, irrelevant training service members have to undergo before deployment.

LOL!
Dead on. Reminds me of King Leonidas in the movie “300” :” You see old friend, I did bring more soldiers than you....”
I think I have a man-crush on Mattis!
In Army slang, "skinnies" refer to Somalians.
Agreed. And I say this as a father of 3 girls. The military should stay focused like a laser on one thing: killing the enemy and breaking their things. No social experimentation needed or wanted.
The goal? Bring our boys home in one piece and victorious.
Excellent.
That’s it. Let the military either break things or bring them home and put up a wall.
Slim in Africa refers to AIDS victims.
Biggest. Crock. Ever.
Turning the Dept. of Defense into the Department of Offense
The main purpose of the military is to kill people and break things (source - Rush). Sometimes they have to sleep and eat. Personal grooming, totally optional in time of conflict.
I have never felt that camo for non-combat was a good idea. They should have a field (camo) uniform only for the field, not for on base uniforms, or dress.
Should rename it back to the War Department.

Yes, that's exactly what our military is for and we have a Secretary of Defense who agrees with that principle:
"Find the enemy that wants to end this experiment (in American democracy) and kill every one of them until theyre so sick of the killing that they leave us and our freedoms intact."

Operation Petticoat.
I still enjoy catching that movie from time to time.
Somewhere I have a picture of me on the conning tower of that sub. The Navy rented it to the film producers for like $1 and when it was over they painted it gray again but you could still see pink streaks around the ballast tanks vents. It was towed back to old Long Beach Navy Yard and sat there for years.
Because everyone should pay the extra ten bucks to dry clean. Or $50 for a new blouse vs $20 for the cammie. Nothing like $80 for shoes every month.
Active Duty and Reserves 50’s and 60’s. The only camos were for snipers and some recon guys. In Korea 52-53 and never saw any camo. All of field clothing and equipment was left over from WWII. Back in the States we had decent looking duds without paying all that much.
Marine Corps, no cammies mean the service Charlie uniform for work. Khaki blouse, green trou, piss cutter and corfam shoes. Depending where you get it, $200-300 for officers after rank insignia/devices. Has to be dry cleaned. So at a minimum, you’ll need three of them. Alternative is the Alpha $500-600. Most remove the ‘jacket’ since there is no way it can be used for inspection if you can reach above your waist. Current cami uniform is about $100 and even in an office environment gets dinged. Scuffed corfams no way. Problems is there is no way at a unit level to have office work without screwing up your shoes so they are useless for inspections every other week.
