Southhaven, Mississippi will have to take out their checkbook on this one, and that check is going to be very big.

Along with that, the police officer(s) should be protected and DeSoto County Prosecutor John Champion who said it was "possible" that police went to the wrong house needs to move on to a career of bagging groceries on the local Piggly Wiggly.

And our lesson should be, “Never Talk to the Police!”

First Degree Murder with Special Circumstances

I would charge ALL OF THEM and go for the Death Penalty, their Supervisor included.

Did they then search his home looking for any excuse for them to have shot him?

"This is incredibly tragic and embarrassing to this police department that they can't read house numbers."

It's murder, plain and simple.

Tragic and embarrassing. It’s always extra risky when an officer is looking for a specific address at nightime.
You need a bright beam flashlight, but don’t wish to attract too much attention, or alert the subject.

But police officers said they were forced to shoot Lopez when he opened his front door and his pet pit bull charged at them. Police said they opened fire at the dog and saw Lopez holding a gun from behind his door.

Hmmm.

BTW, this incident, like many others of its kind before it, give credence to the BLM lies about “hands up don’t shoot”. The police are their own worst enemies.

This is why I am absolutely terrified of being pulled over by law enforecment. I remember when as child we were told they were our friend and would help us. Now fear them more than criminal since can’t defend my self from a cop.( I am a boomer babe). What on earth is going on ??

"Bullet holes suggest they shot through the door,"

Why do they need surprise raids to issue a warrant? Can't they just monitor the house and wait till the perp comes out and then arrest him.

Here is what happened. Had the man obeyed the police and dropped the gun he would be alive. Siccing a pit bull on the police was not a wise move either. No good guys here. Mistakes made all round.

But police officers said they were forced to shoot Lopez when he opened his front door and his pet pit bull charged at them. Police said they opened fire at the dog and saw Lopez holding a gun from behind his door.

"One of the officers did fire a shot at the pit bull dog. While this was going on, they also noticed at the time that a gun was pointed outside the residence," Champion said. "At this point, the officers began hollering 'put the gun down, put the gun down,' at which point that did not occur and there were more than one shot was fired toward the door and there was a male subject inside the residence that was killed."

Would this shooting have been OK if it was at the right address?

When the police show up after midnight, talk to them through a window and don’t be in the window.

This will be ruled a justifiable, though tragic, homicide...........

“Analyze the address”? One can’t help but wonder with some of the low-caliber situations that occur every day (and not just in police work) if Affirmative Action has indeed turned us into an Idiocracy.

I’m sure Mr. Lopez won’t make the mistake of being across the street from a guy who is supposed to be arrested again!

Along with that, the police officer(s) should be protected...

Protected? Or prosecuted?

uh...ya...difficult concept for cops...

odd numbers on the left side of the street,
even numbers on the right side of the street.

double check the house number and confirm it WITH ALL MEMBERS OF THE TEAM!

I have observed, while watching ‘Cops’ that when UC are conducting a sting operation be it drugs or prostitute, there is a lack of ANY uniformed Police around and I would think that if I were ‘legally’ (or not) armed that when the ‘pro’ excuses herself and someone barges through the door that ‘I’ would be in a heap of trouble as I definitely will be turning around with ‘something’ in my hand.. Especially if she had ‘demanded’ we go to the room of her choice.

Funny how I would more than likely get ‘fired’ if I delivered an important ‘package’ to the wrong address yet you hear of these situations popping up and everyone is supposed to just say ‘that is life’ sorry about that.
