Not knowing, or caring what NYC does, I'm immediately suspicious that some politician (probably the crooked commie NYC Mayor) wanted to payback some union bosses, while receiving some kickbacks of his own.
I cruised by some government boondoggle bridge project that had been going on for months with an old Navy Chief. He took one look and growled “SeaBees would have had it done by noon”.
Bensonhurst has a population of over 151,000 inhabitants as of the 2010 United States Census.[7]
Early 1900s:
In the early 20th century, many Italians and Jews moved into the neighborhood, and prior to World War II the neighborhood was about equally Jewish and Italian.[8] In the 1950s, under pressure of an influx of immigrants from southern Italy and with new housing being built in the suburbs, the Jewish population began to decline and eventually, after several decades, most of the Jewish population left the neighborhood, leaving the area predominantly Italian.
With a large Italian-American population, Bensonhurst is usually considered the main “Little Italy” of Brooklyn.[9] The Italian-speaking community remains over 20,000 strong, according to the census of 2000. But, the Italian-speaking community is becoming “increasingly elderly and isolated, with the small, tight-knit enclave in the city slowly disappearing as they give way to demographic changes.” [10]
Its main thoroughfare, 18th Avenue (also known as Cristoforo Colombo Boulevard) between roughly 60th Street and Shore Parkway, is lined with predominantly small, Italian family-owned businessesmany of which have remained in the same family for several generations. 86th Street is another popular local thoroughfare, lined by the arches of the BMT West End Line.
1990spresent:
Around 1989, an influx of immigrants from China and the former USSR began to arrive, mainly from Southern China, Russia, Ukraine and Armenia. In the 1990s Bensonhurst rapidly grew in cultural diversity. Bensonhurst is home to many ethnic Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Albanian, Greek, Turkish, Georgian, Uzbek, Arab, Palestinian, Egyptian, Lebanese, Pakistani, Mexican, Guatemalan, Ecuadorian, and Puerto Rican Americans.

But is his dislike fair? I have not seen Stossel in a while, but can't recall him treating an individual or topic unfairly. He'd usually give both sides of the story, followed by his opinion.
If my memory is faulty, and if I am being unfair to Stossel (whom I generally like), then I apologize. But I think Stossel has largely bought into the media’s PC approach to Trump.
You are correct that Stossel tries to state both side of a story and then state his opinion. With Trump, Stossel has seemed to say (grossly paraphrasing for brevity and clarity) “Is Trump a misogynist? Well, he does seem to grab women by their body parts. And is Trump a racist? Well, some of his tweets have been depressing. And is he a small government guy? Well, he’s increasing the size of the Defense budget, so I really don’t know why people voted for him.”
Again, I don’t have a real quote from Stossel and I don’t want to be unfair to him, but I think he sort of pretends to present a balanced argument about Trump but always concludes that Trump is bad news. I mean: I get it — Trump is not a Libertarian. But he’s so much better than Romney, McCain, Hillary or Bush or Obama.
