"We are not the president's subordinates. We are his equal," McCain said of the legislative branch.
McCain also spoke at length about the at-times acrimonious relations within the Senate and urged his colleagues to work across the aisle.
"Our deliberations can still be important and useful, but I think we can all agree that they haven't been overburdened by greatness lately," he said.
"Stop listening to the bombastic loudmouths on the radio and television and the internet. To hell with them!" he said in a line that was met by applause.
"What have we to lose by trying to work together to find those solutions?" he asked.

While I understand your point, you’re wrong. The Senate is a separate and equal branch of government. They are NOT the President’s subordinates.
Because he has been instructed to bring about REPUB humiliation/democRAT party advantage. If the bill cannot even be debated and voted on, it can’t be verbally trashed and then defeated. It would be merely RAT obstruction yet again. McCain wants it on the floor so he can full bore trash it in debate, solicit even one or two more sympathy votes against it (bi partisan you know), and ensure that Obamacare is never to be challenged again.

Collectively, the Legislature is equal to the President. It is NOT subordinate!!!
However, that makes an individual Senator 1/535th of a President.
Overall, McCain is yelling about the wrong President. obozo was the one who thought he was the CEO, the Senators VPs, the House Representatives Directors and the People just his worker bees. SCOTUS was in-house counsel.
That was how he ran his administration and one of the many, many reasons why he was so ineffective.
