President Trump has floated the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his steadfast ally Rudy Giuliani to serve in the top Justice Department post, Axios reported Monday.
Trump broached the idea in internal discussions about bringing in and surrounding himself with staunch supporters, sources within the West Wing told the news outlet.
Before The New York Times interview last week, Trump had already expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Axios reports.
Trump, during the interview, opined that Sessions' decision to recuse himself was "unfair" to him and he would've likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known this is the move Sessions would make.
In a tweet on Monday, Trump went after Sessions, calling him beleaguered and questioned why the attorney general and federal investigators are not looking into Hillary Clinton for her crimes and ties to Russia.

You don’t think you’re perfect? You had me fooled/s.
I never claimed to be an evangelical. The Snake Sessions makes that claim. I seek to unmask the Snake.
I will continue to call out hypocrisy and people whose agenda is detrimental to the restoration of our formerly Free Republic.
First learn something before mouthing off.
Mueller is not conducting a criminal investigation, he is running a counter-intelligence investigation. If this is news to you maybe commenting on this isn’t for you. No one, repeat that, no one recuses themselves from a counter intelligence investigation. But Sessions was bullied into it, giving credence to the lie, conceived by Hillary and the DNC, that Trump, as a traitor against America, conspired and colluded with the Russians to perform illegal acts to fix the Presidential election. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT THEY ARE SAYING, BECAUSE I DON’T THINK YOU DO. Sessions should have shouted that bullshit down, right on the spot.
Nothing under the Constitution, or in legal ethics demands that Sessions recuse himself. Those chance meetings with Russian diplomats were garbage, and were de minimus interactions. Sessions should have kicked their asses out and told them to go pound sand. He knew he was not conflicted, because nothing happened, but he failed. The damage is real and he played right into the hands of Franken, Hillary, Schumer and the DNC.
Like a typical leftist you then conflate what Hillary, Lynch and Holder did, which were crimes, with what Trump did, which was nothing. So get that straight, they committed crimes, and broke huge ethical boundaries even under a real FBI CRIMINAL investigation. They did spit on the Constitution. Learn the difference, learn the proportionality, and stop the hysterics.
Russia is bullshit, and Sessions had done nothing wrong, and there was no crime committed, and Mueller is not even conducting a criminal investigation because he can’t find a crime. Sessions did a huge disservice to this country and to the office of the President to recuse himself, and thereby allowing this 100 million dollar freak show to take place. He was manipulated by the press and the DNC and he should have shown leadership, it was the time to do so.
Now Mueller is looking at real estate deals and “money laundering”, which proves the point that election tampering is absolutely no where.
Nice! I hope it happens too! Guliani would be Great.
Go Trump!
What exactly is so great about Giuliani? I'd love to hear his newfound fan club here explain that one to me. Is it his advocacy of handgun control? His support for "immigration reform" (amnesty)? His hanging out with drag queens? Or is it the fact that he created a phony "hero of 9/11" by posing for photo-ops alongside firefighters who risked their lives and other (actual) heroes?
Giuliani is to the Left of both Romney and McCain, and probably to the Left of some Democrats. If McCain and Romney areu nacceptable, how did gun-grabber and open borders advocate Giuliani become so well-loved of the sudden?
As I said before, if Giuliani ran for office anywhere other than New York City, he would have to run as a Democrat.
Well, "Snake" Sessions does his job by enforcing our immigration laws. Your hero Giuliani favors giving a "path to citizenship" to illegals (aka amnesty). So what does that make Giuliani? A slug perhaps? No...that's insulting to mollusks. More like pond scum.
My hero Guliani? You’re weird.
Go for it Mr President! You won't be sorry! Best idea ever.
A huge thanks to you, Alberta’s Child, Will88 and the few others for being voices of reason in an otherwise Bizzaro World.
This is a very eye opening thread.
LOL — thanks. I’ve been around here a long time and I’m analytical by nature, so in an usually keep things in perspective even when most people are getting all emotional and worked up over a story!
WTH are you taking about? Maybe you should lay off the sauce before you get on the internet. I would try to respond, if I could understand half of what you just said.

As will I.
***You dont think youre perfect? You had me fooled/s.***
Having an opinion doesn’t make me perfect. Your comment is the one that comes off as sanctimonious.

Downright scary. Just shows the truth in “the more things change, the more they stay the same.”
This thread is about Trump floating the idea of replacing Sessions with Giuliani. You and about 90% of posters on this thread seem to approve of the idea. The only thing "weird" about this is why so many conservatives are suddenly in love with one of the most liberal politicians in the Republican Party.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that finds it more than a little strange that people who (rightly) think Mitt Romney, Lindsey Graham, and John McCain are too liberal for the Republican Party are suddenly so eager to embrace Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani is so far to the Left on many issues that he makes Romney and McCain look like John P. East.

Not surprised you don’t understand.
I have never stated that he is my “hero” or that I am an “evangelical”. Train your trolling energies elsewhere.
OK, Giuliani isn't your hero, you just want him to be Attorney General. That seems bad enough. What's next on the agenda? Mitt Romney for Secretary of State?

Why did you lie about Guiliani in the first place? Don’t you know the devil will get you for lying? Geesh.
OK, Hornbeck, YOU inserted yourself into the back and forth exchange b/t LF & myself.
This thread title deals with the idea of G replacing S, but the specific back and forth exchange that YOU chose to insert yourself into did NOT involve Guliani, making an untrue assertion about how I view G.
THAT is trolling. You assume I am a liberal republican. I’m sure you know the inherent dangers of ASS-uming.
Go troll elsewhere.
Post something remotely comprehensible while not intoxicated and I’ll be able to understand it just fine.
