Trump Floats Possibility Of Giuliani Replacing Sessions As AG

President Trump has floated the possibility of replacing Attorney General Jeff Sessions with his steadfast ally Rudy Giuliani to serve in the top Justice Department post, Axios reported Monday.

Trump broached the idea in internal discussions about bringing in and surrounding himself with staunch supporters, sources within the West Wing told the news outlet.

Before The New York Times interview last week, Trump had already expressed anger and frustration at Sessions for recusing himself from the Russia investigation, Axios reports.

Trump, during the interview, opined that Sessions' decision to recuse himself was "unfair" to him and he would've likely picked another person to lead the Justice Department if he had known this is the move Sessions would make.

In a tweet on Monday, Trump went after Sessions, calling him “beleaguered” and questioned why the attorney general and federal investigators are not looking into Hillary Clinton for her “crimes” and ties to Russia.

Just discussed this with David Limbaugh, Rush’s brother & a lawyer. I asked what kind of timeline it would take to bring casa against Lynch, Comey, Cankles, esp if it had to be done very secretly. He said quite a while.

“Any case that was prosecuted with him as the AG would be thrown out of court”

Nonsense. Giuliani would not be any more of a political appointment than Sessions was. And the AG doesn’t personally prosecute any cases. Your concerns are unfounded. Trump just needs someone aligned with his priorities for the DOJ. Sessions clearly is not.

I don’t know. Age doesn’t always mellow a person. Certainly shouldn’t weaken their determination of doing the right thing. I am guessing maybe Rudy Giuliani is sickened at what has happened to our Country since then and wants to help fix it.

I don’t care who it is ..as long as they ENFORCE THE LAW. And coincidentally drain the swamp.
Dim and Pubs ..if they are crooked ..then they must go to jail or at the very least resign.

you post: ‘they are all too PC, too cautious. Hire from the private sector for results..’

BINGO - That is you how drain the swamp...dump the ‘professional” politicians/lawyers and replace with people who have
held down a real job/ran a business....and will likely be sacrificing, financially to serve, rather than, predominately, ivy league lawyers (taught how to lie and obfuscate to win/professional politicians who see ‘serving’ as serving themselves, hands in the till, and become millionaires from our taxes.

Your suggestion would, starting with the top, reestablish our REPUBLIC as it was set up originally.

Hi.

I predicted this last week.

If Rudy can handle the job for 3 plus years, I say go for it.

If not, check other possible candidates.

You’re right.

Other poster: “No. Giuliani is an amnesty supporter”.

I get sick of one issue voters. They are incapable of seeing the big picture or incapable of fighting back smartly.

I do not see any indication under your screen name or anywhere else that you claim to have been on this forum for ten years. I didn’t realize that we were in a discussion that I didn’t agree with. I just noticed some of your posts were a little iffy on facts. Welcome to Free Republic! :-)

It’s kill or be killed time. Rudy knows how to play that game.

I agree, but I'm not sure that Rudy still has the spunk for such warfare. He's gotten long in the tooth.

Sessions hurt the effort by that ridiculous recusal. Pleads guilty to a non crime and then gelds the DOJ and Trump.

While lynch and Holder never once considered it when they both spit on the Constitution.

Giuliani doesn’t take anything lying down, but that ship has sailed. He is not the guy.

Yeah. Great. Thanks Trump. You cost Alabama our best Senator and now replace him as AG? Trump can probably kiss Alabama goodbye in the next election. A lot of people around here ain’t going to like it. Me being one of them. I didn’t want Jeff to take the AG job in the first place. Now we lose him as Senator and everything. Yeah. Great. Thank Trump. Oh, yeah, by the way, where is the Obamacare replacement? How is that going with the RINOs?

Thank you for your post. I completely agree. I made another post before this one. I and a lot of folks around here are not going to like losing our Senator and now he gets canned as AG! I am not going to like it one freaking bit. Trump cans Senator Sessions, Trump can kiss my next vote goodbye.

Many, if not most, of us are in favor of some kind of amnesty for most of the Mexicans who are here illegally.

If they are good, productive citizens, let them stay. The alternative of shipping out 10 million people is too difficult.

Give them a path to a green card and flip many or most of them to Republican voters. Make them register, but in order to stay they have to fill out a questionnaire including whether they have voted illegally. If they answer honestly, don’t prosecute them, but if they lie about it, then they get deported.

.

Maybe Trump and his butt buddies should have known all this stuff their selves before costing Alabama our best Senator.
