The group of Florida teens who filmed and laughed at a drowning man will face charges for not reporting his death, according to officials.
Authorities initially said there didnt appear to be grounds to prosecute the teens caught on camera mocking 32-year-old Jamel Dunn as he drowned in Cocoa, Florida.

However, Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe said Friday that he will seek misdemeanor charges under a statute related to not reporting a death, news station WPLG reported. The recommended charges will be given to the Florida State Attorneys Office, which will determine whether to prosecute the teens.
Cantaloupes announcement comes a day after the horrifying video showing Dunns final moments made headlines.

Cops and prosecutors need to act like they’re doing their job. It will go nowhere.
At least get a paper trail on those sociopaths.
The kids were non-swimmers so they likely couldn’t have helped the victim.
They certainly could have called 911 instead of watching and laughing.
But agree. Doubt this will go anywhere.
Good! I wondered if there wasn’t anything that could be done to these. I am sick of those ‘bystanders’ who do nothing to help stop a tragedy. And these sickos taunted the helpless dying man and taped it too. This is a symptom of the sickness of our society.
From the sound of it, this looks like another black on black crime. So where are the BLM folks? Black lives, all too often, don’t matter to other Blacks.
I still think Negligent Homicide is the charge to use
Good
I agree, but at least these cretins' fingerprints will get into the system so when they graduate to committing burglaries and stuff like that law enforcement will have a little easier time finding them.
The law does not compel a person to risk their life to save another life.
Sure it will as they are guilty of the charge.
Petty crime but its on their records.
Society willl hear from these scum again.
Some time down the road, they will end up in prison or dead
The left has tried very hard to remove religion from every part of our live with the exception of Church . While muslims get special treatment almost everywhere . Children are told by their secular teachers there is no God from K thru college . We now have a class of young folks who have no inner soul and in return put very little value on life .
I think the article states that the drowning victim has two daughters, and there is an online fund set up to help with costs. So apparently, he has already reproduced.
Somehow, I don’t expect that funding to collect a large sum of money, even after all this publicity.
This man and the teens he chose to hang with are symptoms of a much larger problem that cannot be resolved by any online fund. The problem is how they were brought up, and what their day to day priorities are. After childhood is done, free will chooses the path one lives by, not always, but much of the time.

Reach, throw, row, go.
Possible they could have thrown something to him.
The teens must the result of PUBLIC EDUCATION.
Taxpayers pay BILLIONS for that non-sense.
“However, Cocoa Police Chief Mike Cantaloupe...”
Only in Fla...
Will anyone ask how they got to that state? How they were born, and reached their current age without picking up the fact that in this culture you don’t look on with glee as someone is dying? You do, in m*slim lands - it’s encouraged. The mother did not teach the kids, they went through school without getting that into their heads, they now are essentially adults with no empathy, no compassion.
They will get a light sentence which will do no good. In a few years we’ll hear about them again.
The first response to water rescue is to toss a floatable, cooler etc. The guy was too far away for help. If you try to rescue someone, and you don’t know how to, you’re usually a victim also. The drowning person will grab you and try to climb on top. Get training....
he could not swim anyhow and went to the deep end!!!
