3 Men Blocked I-80 Ramp Before Early Morning Carjacking
A report indicates three suspects carjacked a vehicle on the I-80 ramp to I-355 in New Lenox early Saturday morning.

NEW LENOX, IL -- A reported car jacking took place early Saturday morning on an expressway ramp. An incident was reported on police scanner traffic on the westbound Interstate 80 ramp to northbound Interstate 355.
Three men were blocking the ramp and asked the victim to use his phone before one of the men approached on the passenger side of the car with a gun around 4:35 a.m., according to a report from The Herald-News.
A Northern Illinois Fireground Photos Facebook post indicates the carjackers were three black men who were armed with a black semi automatic handgun at the time. They fled the scene in the victim's car, a 2012 grey Honda.

So 3 guys were just standing in the roadway? And the driver actually stopped? In the middle of the night?
Ok. Think I got it. Why would anyone stop?
And, a black semi automatic handgun , just made the assault weapon list

Better antitheft security could be part of dramatic surge in carjackings.
It was still dark at 6 a.m. as Terry Rawlings Sr. guided his cherry-red Acura CL through Southwest Baltimore. He was heading to the gym to lift weights before his shift as a truck driver.
The 51-year-old was on Washington Boulevard near Bayard Street when his car was rear-ended by a Nissan Altima.
He pulled over and stepped out to check the damage. Before him stood a young man about 6 feet tall in a long black jacket, black athletic pants and New Balance sneakers.
“This is my mom’s car,” he told Rawlings. “I’m going to be in trouble.”
Rawlings turned to look at his rear bumper. He saw only slight damage.
“Well, look,” he said. “We can handle it.”
Then he turned back to the other driver. A semi-automatic handgun stared back.
Carjackings on the rise as auto thefts begin to dip
“Don’t make me kill you, bitch,” the young man said.
Rawlings had been set up in a bump-and-rob carjacking. The man shoved Rawlings, jumped into his Acura and sped off. An accomplice trailed in the Altima.
Carjackings in Baltimore have more than tripled since 2013, and the number has continued to climb in the first weeks of 2017, at a rate that has far outpaced other auto thefts. Some other U.S. cities are also seeing increases.

My thought as well. And that’s one reason why you should ALWAYS leave 2/3 of a car length ahead of you whenever you stop at a red light, etc. Give yourself room to pull out in a hurry if you have to.
Having said that, if all three of those men were armed, the driver is simply checkmated. Might be best to surrender in that case, I think.
Thank God I live in Texas...a place where you have the right to protect your life and property with deadly force. I never leave the house without my little .380 “buddy” and always have a loaded pistol in my truck 24/7. Gun haters are just like the jews in germany during the war. Wait a minute. I see a problem here. Why wasn’t the color of the sneakers mentioned?

A pair of men — one of them armed — approached a car owner standing outside his vehicle on the southwest side of Chicago in broad daylight May 10 and demanded his keys.
But police told the Chicago Tribune the victim wouldn’t hand over his keys.
See, he’s a concealed carry license holder, police told the paper — and he pulled out his own gun and started firing.
The vehicle owner shot one of the perps “in the groin area,” the Tribune reported. The other one took off running but was arrested shortly thereafter, the paper said.
The wounded suspect, 25, was taken to a hospital where he was listed in good condition, Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told the Tribune. The other perp’s age is unknown, the paper said.
Charges are pending against both suspects, police told the Tribune, adding that a weapon was recovered.
“It’s unclear if the victim lived in the neighborhood where the shooting occurred, but at least 429 residents have active concealed carry permits, according to the most recent statistics from the Illinois State police,” the paper noted.
What on earth do you think “blocking the ramp” means?

The only place I felt fearful for my own safety was Pine Bluff, Arkansas...

I drove almost 2500 miles in a road trip this summer. When I drove through Chicago on I-80 I made sure to do it at 5:30 AM. I was not going to stop for anything. I was not going to leave the highway for any reason.
Hence, BOWLING!!
