An on-duty officer with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries says he was denied service at a McDonalds restaurant in Henrico County because of his profession, prompting the owner to take what was described as appropriate action to resolve the situation.
Scott Naff, a 25-year law enforcement veteran, was apparently not given his food after he paid for it because the employee in the drive-thru allegedly refused to serve police. The event was first broadcast online late Thursday through the officers wife, whose Facebook post had received more than 2,000 comments and 3,500 shares by Monday.
The officer said Tuesday that he was not able to talk about the incident, but his wife spoke on his behalf.
Cathy Naff, the officers wife, said the post was initially meant to be shared among a group of supportive friends, and she had no idea it would garner such attention.
Freda Thornton, the franchise owner, said in a statement Tuesday that her restaurants are dedicated to serving all customers, including all authority figures who protect our wildlife and natural resources.
We regret this situation as it goes against our standards of providing a welcoming experience to everyone, and we have taken the appropriate action to resolve this situation, Thornton said in the statement.
A spokeswoman declined to specify what actions were taken or provide further comment.
Cathy Naff said in her original Facebook post that her husband was on break about 7 p.m. Thursday when he pulled into the McDonalds drive-thru at 8210 Brook Road. After ordering his food, Cathy Naff said, the employee told him, I aint serving no police, and closed the service window.
Her husband was served several minutes later by another employee, Cathy Naff said, but she said she was shocked to learn of the encounter. The couple notified the McDonalds corporate office and the franchise owner of what transpired, she said.
When asked whether McDonalds actions were satisfactory, Cathy Naff said there is no satisfaction in seeing someone lose a job. She added that the issue could likely be prevented from recurring through adequate customer training practices.
This situation is about how a law enforcement officer was treated by an employee of a local establishment who should have been trained by their employer and properly supervised on how to treat their customers, she said. My husband is one of the great guys and would have never treated this young man disrespectfully.
“I aint serving no police,”
Gee, can you tell me the upcoming Powerball numbers?
TIA
I aint serving no police, and closed the service window.
Really is a good representative for McDonald’s. Follow her home and see what is behind the door. Probably more of the same.
Obozo would have invited the perp to the White House for a friendly supportive chat, just as with Clocktard Mohammed ....
I would fire her in a heartbeat.
This is not a matter of "adequate customer training practices". The employee was personally responsible for her unacceptable behavior. McDonald's only proper response was to apologize to the officer, serve him his meal, and immediately terminate the idiot employee's relationship with the company.
And people such as this, hopefully, former employee are demanding $15/hour!
Either that, or Obozo, the perp and Mr. Naff would have sat down for a "Big Mac Summit" at the restaurant.
Luckily I swallowed my seltzer before I read your post. Would have been a wet scene otherwise. ; )
Betting that the employee is a charter member of BLM.
R2D2 your job is waiting............
You forgot a beer summit at the White House and a Medal of Freedom medallion.
In Virginia, game wardens are considered LEOs. They have more power than regular police including state police. They can go through your freezer if they have probable cause. Game wardens often a company police on some calls because they have wide latitude in their authority. Underestimating the authenticity of a game warden in Virginia is a serious mistake.
You can train an employee but you can’t un-train a bigot.
McD’s is a place only of last or only resort for me. If I was a police officer I wouldn’t eat at any place where I couldn’t watch them make the food...
Fast food is quickly disappearing from my choices.
Unless adulterating "fast food" (the most susceptible to abuse) becomes a felony with punishment certain, no amount of "convenience" is worth the risk.
Put that in your $15 an hour pipe...
The double negative in the server quote is a pretty good indicator you’re right.
I aint serving no police,
Ebonics, not English.
This employee is simply a victim of the man. I bet McDonalds training program never even explained he wasn’t allowed to pick and choose who he wanted to wait on or that he couldn’t freely spit in peoples food if he didn’t like them. /s
Your grammar was incorrect, that last sentence should have been;
“know wa Idube sain atya”.
No, those are not mispellings nor were any letters left out.
If your going to write JIVE, do it correctly.
(snicker, snicker)
I ain't servin' no pOlice!"...
