An on-duty officer with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries says he was denied service at a McDonalds restaurant in Henrico County because of his profession, prompting the owner to take what was described as appropriate action to resolve the situation.
Scott Naff, a 25-year law enforcement veteran, was apparently not given his food after he paid for it because the employee in the drive-thru allegedly refused to serve police. The event was first broadcast online late Thursday through the officers wife, whose Facebook post had received more than 2,000 comments and 3,500 shares by Monday.
The officer said Tuesday that he was not able to talk about the incident, but his wife spoke on his behalf.
Cathy Naff, the officers wife, said the post was initially meant to be shared among a group of supportive friends, and she had no idea it would garner such attention.
Freda Thornton, the franchise owner, said in a statement Tuesday that her restaurants are dedicated to serving all customers, including all authority figures who protect our wildlife and natural resources.
We regret this situation as it goes against our standards of providing a welcoming experience to everyone, and we have taken the appropriate action to resolve this situation, Thornton said in the statement.
A spokeswoman declined to specify what actions were taken or provide further comment.
Cathy Naff said in her original Facebook post that her husband was on break about 7 p.m. Thursday when he pulled into the McDonalds drive-thru at 8210 Brook Road. After ordering his food, Cathy Naff said, the employee told him, I aint serving no police, and closed the service window.
Her husband was served several minutes later by another employee, Cathy Naff said, but she said she was shocked to learn of the encounter. The couple notified the McDonalds corporate office and the franchise owner of what transpired, she said.
When asked whether McDonalds actions were satisfactory, Cathy Naff said there is no satisfaction in seeing someone lose a job. She added that the issue could likely be prevented from recurring through adequate customer training practices.
This situation is about how a law enforcement officer was treated by an employee of a local establishment who should have been trained by their employer and properly supervised on how to treat their customers, she said. My husband is one of the great guys and would have never treated this young man disrespectfully.
Want to bet the perp was not a Caucasian? Hope he or she was “well-disciplined” - as in fired.
That’s a career builder right there. “ I got fired from McDonalds.”
Under the Bamster, the clerk would’ve been promoted to Assistant Deupty Secretary of the Interior.
Yeah, the grammar seems suggestive of who said it.
And the idiot refused this guy WHO IS NOT EVEN A REGULAR COP.
Next they’ll be refusing to serve ANYBODY in any uniform - meter maids, bus drivers, etc.
The use of the word “ain’t” is a tip off.
From the news article, the employee told him [Virginia Conservation Police Lieutenant Scott Naff], I aint serving no police.

Drive-Thru Lives Matter!
I was in a McDonalds right behind some uniformed LEOs. Got my stuff to go and later discovered it was not edible. I think I got their order.
Called corporate who connected me with the franchise who claimed nobody at their store would ever do that. Then they sent me - are you ready - a drink coupon! LOL for a $7.00 order.
I called her back to tell her what she could do with her coupon and she said she made a mistake, she thought she sent me some kind of meal coupon. It was only good at her franchise. Like I’d ever go back there again.
Haven’t been in a McDonalds since then. 4 years or more. Discovered the biscuits and cold slaw at Kentucky Fried Chicken.

I did too. The scumbag manager was after a gal that I was dating who was on the crew. I got watched like a hawk for a reason to drop me. I went on to the Marine Corps and then to a 20 year career in IT.
Hope he or she was well-disciplined - as in fired.....That is what he was hoping for.
“Appopriate action” might only mean a wink and a smirk.
That right there is Bolshevik, all the training in the world won't stop a self righteous cretin from doing what they want, obviously this child grew up being told that they had the right to do whatever they want because they were special!
