For years, far-left activists in Berlin followed the strategy of attacking property, not people. But that is changing, the Berlin interior ministry claimed on Tuesday.
2016 was marked out by a spiral in left-wing violence that not only led to a multitude of serious crimes, but also in part to a radicalized tone which has seen calls for the murder of police officers and politicians, the ministry warned in its security report for 2016, released on Tuesday.
The inhibition threshold regarding physical attacks is sinking, and we are now at the stage where targeted assassination of political opponents no longer appears completely unrealistic, the report states.
Several violent confrontations between police and left-wing protesters around Rigaer Strasse, a left-wing street in the east of Berlin which holds deep symbolic significance for the far left, were central to the radicalization in the scene, the report argues.

Weren’t they once called the ‘Rot Front”?
Yep. Baader-Meinhof Gang, morphed into the Red Army Faction, or as they preferred it, the Red Army Fraction. They were funded by Stasi. Killed a lot of people and they were active for a very long time.
I can recall a time not too long ago where the hard left was very violent. See the Red Army Faction as an example from the Cold War days, particularly the 1970s.
Baader-Meinhof Gang
The NAZI party song (Horst Wessel lied) was an anti communist song. Here’s the first stanza.
Disclaimer: I do not believe in or support anything regarding the NAZI party. This is for historical context. I am a fiscal constitutional conservative social libertarian. Fascism/Nazism/Communism are simply different branches of the socialist tree.
Raise the flag! The ranks tightly closed!
The SA marches with calm, steady step.
Comrades shot by the Red Front and reactionaries
March in spirit within our ranks.

When you dig into the history the whole ANTIFA movement makes sense. Hitlers NAZI party and Mussolini’s Fascist party were the opponents to the global Soviet Communist movement.
It’s perfectly understandable that a bunch of Berkeley communists don’t like fascists or Nazi’s much.
BTW, the rise of the NAZI party in Germany led to the Communists of the “Frankfurt School” fleeing Germany to the USA and eventually inventing “Critical Theory” and it’s offshoot Cloward-Piven. Both of which are taught heavily now in the Universities in the USA.
They would be useful to Merkel to eliminate and intimidate opposition.
The timing of this announcement does make it sound a lot like a not too subtle threat against anyone who might be thinking about standing up against her disastrous policies.
The Fascists fought the Communists, but this shouldn’t be regarded as being due to ideological differences.
Fascism and Communism are both big-state Totalitarian ideologies that seek to put the State in the place of God.
Compared with free-market capitalism, they are practically identical.
So why did they fight?
For the same reason that the Bloods and the Crips fight.
Because the Fascists and the Communists were both groups of amoral gangsters. They fought for control, for turf, and because the loser would die.
This same fratricidal struggle has played out elsewhere in the political sphere:

When the Left fights and kills the Left, they always twist the truth and denounce their foes as Right Wing reactionaries. The truth is not in them.
Totally agree.
Clintons have murdered quite a number of opponents as have the Obamas in their quest to destroy America.
Organized crime rings with different names.

The definition of fascist they use is anyone not as leftwing as themselves. I regually see people doing nothing but filming Antifa called a Nazi and beaten half to death. It’s kind of a join or get beaten type of group.
Historically Fascism was reaction to Marxism that chose 3ed way socialism and fought with the same rule book that the Marxists used. When we note the similarities between fascism and Antifa it’s only because we’re heavily indoctrinated on the horrors of Fascism and received no training in the horrors of Marxism because Marxists control the schools and the media.
Marxists are much more dangerous than Fascists are because no one really believes in Fascism but Marxism has an endless supply of true believers willing to kill for it.
We made a mistake during the cold war. We should have rounded every Communist and Marxist and given them same treatment we gave the Nazis. You can’t coexist with them.
This is already a reality in the USA. We have had leftist’s BLM’ers and others kill citizens based on race; conversely, this is how those who use political correctness to lay siege to the populace learn life can be hell on earth. Not everyone is willing to go gently “into the socialist night” without trying to stop their nation’s destruction by politicians.
Hitler was born in Austria.

While readying, I immediately saw this as an AMERICAN problem being pushed by the left. Remember the riots, assaults and plain nastiness by the liberals during the election campaign?
From the title, I thought the Germans were warning the Americans.
