Trump Blasts Sessions For ‘Unfair’ Russia Recusal — ‘Would Have Picked Somebody Else’
THE DAILY CALLER ^ | 19 JULY 2017 | PETER HASSON

President Trump lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an interview on Wednesday, saying that he would have picked somebody else for attorney general if he had known that Sessions was going to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.

“Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else,” Trump told The New York Times.

-- They are loyal to each other ... --

LOL. Depends, I suppose, on how we takes the meaning of "loyalty."

The fact of the matter is that Trump wishes he hadn't nominated Sessions for AG, and he blames Sessions for that.

Now, I have pretty thick skin. But if my boss did that to me, I'd have another job within a week. I can put up with a poison relationship, but only as long as it takes to exit so a healthy relationship might take its place. I would never say one bad word about my boss. Leaving is a sign of respect.

President Trump is pissed off, and rightly so.

Quite frankly FReepers, there was so much rejoicing when Trump appointed Sessions on this site. Sessions is not the enemy. Trump has handled this so poorly even if he and his team is innocent (and I think they are and I think this is absolute BS). Trump is tone deaf, get use to it. And get use to the push back. Before I get blasted, two things:

We do have our version of political correctness on this site (we do, and don't deny it), 2nd, I only voted for Trump (I was a Cruz guy, go back, check the record and fire away...) because of the Supreme Court, and oh btw, I absolutely do not regret my vote and love Trumps pick.

Just my 2 cents in an inflationary environment...

#72: "I like Rudy too but he is not the conservative "

Yeah. You have a good point. I could see Rudy going squishy on social issues. Some folks have mentioned Jay Sekulow. I've followed him for years, and he is a fighter, and has argued successfully before the SCOTUS several times.

I put in another post that Jay would be spectacular as either AG or on the Supreme Court.

-- ... a loud, flashy distraction to keep the MSM from torpedoing healthcare reform. --

Could be. I'm not sure that distraction works so well vs. the Senate and health care, but no question, Trump's remaks about nominating Sessions will be a loud flashy splash for a day or two, anyway.

-- This would be an unusual approach from President Trump who stood by Corey Lewandowski and asked directly for Flynn's resignation. --

He fired Lewandowski. Didn't trash talk him though. He treated and treats Lewandowski better than he's treating Sessions.

Could be an act for all we know. Professional wrestling.

It sounds out of character for Trump to say this. Let’s see what transpires in the next few days.

I agree with your assessment.

Fire him and he could alienate many of his Southern voters.

In a contest of loyalties between Sessions and Trump, southern voters will side with their president, guaranteed.

Washington, Adams, Jeffereson, Madison, Franklin, Jay, Hamilton, and the list goes on, were not people who didn’t read books. They were not people who didn’t think about government. They were not people who claimed to know things without effort. Yes, we don’t want a permanent governing class. Nor do we need a fake conservative and life long Democrat who takes pride in his cynicism and ignorance and inexperience ruining the conservative movement.

Big league!

-- Sessions is not the enemy. --

I've been a big fan of Sessions for years, and still am. I don't know if Trump is just venting, if he is serious, or if this is play acting. Any way you pick, my sentiment toward Trump just took as big a nosedive, as my impression of GWB when he nominated Harriet Miers.

Yeah, but how is Jay Sekulow on social issues? He talks a good game on Fox but is he going to get squishy on stuff like abortion, same-sex marriage, and transgender bathroom access.

Trump needs to be careful, Conservatives are few and far between in very key positions in his administration.

Why would the president go to the New York Times, of all places, to make this statement?
I read about it at a conservative media source: breitbart.com

If this is true ( and it should be if it is not) then Sessions should do the right thing and resign. I am convinced Sessions is never going to go after the deep state coup or the Clintons or Obongo’s using the intelligence service to go after candidate and President elect Trump.

eah, but how is Jay Sekulow on social issues?

Either you are ignorant (in the real sense of the word) or you got me. Look up Jay's pedigree. He is a tiger on social issues, but we have already lost that war. Culture trumps law (no pun intended).
