President Trump lashed out at Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an interview on Wednesday, saying that he would have picked somebody else for attorney general if he had known that Sessions was going to recuse himself from the Russia investigation.
Sessions should have never recused himself and if he was going to recuse himself he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else, Trump told The New York Times.

Trump is usually not unwise so I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I can’t believe he would expose this disharmony in public when all he would need to do is ask for Session’s resignation. Session had already offered it.
Is there something to be gained by this very public rift? I wonder if there is a deeper plan.
Finally! Get him to resign.
Steelfishie the Cruzermanic is back
Won't alienate me. Giuliani would have been a better pick than Sessions. And President Trump himself is from New York, and that didn't hurt him in the South. Trump has been too trusting. He needs to start acting like The Godfather. A lot of President Trump's treacherous associates need to be sleeping with the fishes.
Agreed.
Yes, that’s the way to think. Sessions was the first senator to endorse Trump — a very big deal!
They are loyal to each other — let’s see what that other shoe to drop is...
Sessions was Disloyal. Any Rational human being would know you tell the President of your “Recusal”, before he nominates you. Sessions pulled a fast one on Trump. Fire his ass.
Probably FAKE NEWS.
If not, a Trump feint ... another shiny object to distract the media.
I still believe Sessions has a grand jury working in secret that will blow the doors off with criminal indictments of people like Rice, Powers and others ... maybe Clinton Foundation related ...
Really interesting that Trump chose the NYTimes for this interview.

You sir are mistaking Trump for a politician.
And as such a ‘constitutional scholar’ you should know that all gov’t. servants were to be amateurs. Not politicians.
In your fantasy do you have the winning lotto numbers too. There is little support for your secret GJ theory.
I like Rudy too but he is not the conservative Sessions is. Having said that, I expect Sessions to resign before the week is out after his boss unloaded on him like that. Brutal!
Jay would be a magnificent AG or even Supreme Court Justice.
GP suggests this is a smokescreen to occupy the left while healthcare gets passed.
Unfortunately, it's on tape and CNN is playing it on a loop.
Assuming Trump actually feels as he said, it is a one-way rift, as far as we know.
Some press attention my drift toward this angle, taking attention off other top news, which is presently the senate and healthcare. The flip side is the more attention on Sessions, the more attention on Russia. Trump expresses frustration with Sessions having accepted the AG job, because Trump expected his AG to [fill in the blank with respect to investigations into the Trump campaign]. Fill in the blank. That's where "what I expected" leads if anybody tries to speculate Trump's preferred course, the fork not taken.
It could be that Trump simply wants Sessions to resign for reasons not articulated. If that's what he wants, and he gets it, it's by definition gain for Trump. Churning the help is a common CEO tool. Keeps the survivors on their toes.
I remember the day DJT found out Elusive Jeff had recused himself. He was walking into a meeting or something and a newscritter asked him what he thought about it. Either this was news to DJT, or he had just recently learned about it. In any case... the look on his face... he was PISSED!
Jay Sekulow. Jeanine Pirro.
I see no positive good that can come from The President’s statement.
Maybe, as Gateway Pundit site, suggests its a loud, flashy distraction to keep the MSM from torpedoing healthcare reform.
This would be an unusual approach from President Trump who stood by Corey Lewandowski and asked directly for Flynn’s resignation.
