Who authorized this?

Turkey is not an ally and should be treated as a hostile country.
Which, I guess, kind of puts us in the same relationship as Russia has with Turkey.
You cannot make nice with a scorpion.

This is literally an act of war, and demands a response.

The United States should move their military forces from Incirlik Air Base in Turkey to the New Republic of Kurdistan.

Maybe it’s time for this particular Turkey to be carved up. One slice for the Greeks, one slice for the Kurds, one slice for the Armenians, one slice for the Cypriots, and the Pope’s Nose for the ethnic Turks.

“Who authorized this? “
The US Congress with the AUMF in 2001, right after 911.
It’s a blank check for any POTUS and allows Congress to look the other way, being derelict in their duties.
And, a friggin’ travesty.

I think everyone knew the general areas we are operating in.
Still, this will give us more reason to slap them if they get in our way - we still owe them for not letting us disembark a division in the north during Iraqi Freedom, which would have sealed off the dirtbags trying to flee into Syria.

We need to recognize an independent Kurdistan. The Kurds have been the only reliable allies against ISIS.
To: thoughtomator
ISIS is Turkey’s plausibly deniable expeditionary force.
Al Qaeda is Saudi Arabia’s.

We do not have permission from Assad to have bases in Syria. There is no reason for us to be opposed to the Assad regime.

Turkey has only survived as long as it has because it has been in the best interests of a majority of European countries to prevent Russia from annihilating Turkey and therefor gain a warm water port.
My warning to Erdogan, if it becomes evident that you are an enemy of the United States we will give the green light for your destruction and there is nothing that your European vassal politicians can do to save you. We will let the Russian bear hound you and all of your fellow genocidal Turks back into the Asian Steppe. The few remaining Turks that survive will curse your name over the ages.
