If you ever have need of the services of a psychiatrist, I would strongly recommend you select one besotted with liberal ideology. First of all, you'd save a ton of money. That's because liberal psychiatrists are blessed with the gift of being able to diagnose you without even having seen you. That means you're consultations need not last very long.
I should warn you, however, that you can be sure that if you're a political conservative, you are likely to be committed to a mental institution.
More than 50 years ago, a psychiatrist published an article that stated flatly GOP candidate Barry Goldwater was crazy. The editor of the publication, Ralph Ginzburg, was sued for libel by Goldwater who subsequently won a $75 K judgement.
And just weeks before election day in 1964, hundreds of psychiatrists and psychologists signed an open letter claiming that Goldwater was unfit psychologically to be president. Ever since then, the American Psychiatric Association has had a policy known as "The Goldwater Rule" that ethically forbids mental health professionals from commenting on the mental state of a public figure they have not examined.
I guess these academic psychiatrists didn't get the memo.

In the early 80s, I attended Carleton University in Ottawa. Though not studying psychology or psychiatry, I had to take an introductory psychology course. The professor, a PhD Psychologist, explained that psychologists were all nuts, including himself. He gave an example of two psychologists, hired by an airline, unbeknownst to each other, to observe passengers at an airport and arrest anyone who acted suspiciously. You guessed it. One psychologist immediately arrested the other, when he observed the actions of the other. Of course, in the 70s, Palis were hijacking planes.
In the course of discussing this, he slapped the blackboard with his hand, to show his sweaty palms from just thinking about airports and flying. He even joked that he was nuts for fearing flying in an airplane.
Crazy R Us: We are so good, we can diagnose you on the tv.
Read the last sentence in the next paragraph of the poster’s post, which is very logical
I swear MOST of the people who are psychiatrists I think are crazy.
“”Read the last sentence in the next paragraph of the posters post, which is very logical””
I would appreciate you pointing out the logic to me as it sure escapes me! Can you explain or even better why can’t the poster explain? The word “observation” isn’t used so does experience have a different meaning other than the usual?
Personal experience - yes
Professional experience - no
“”My personal experience with psychiatrists is that a large majority of them go into the field because they need one themselves.
My professional experience with them is 0. Never used one, never felt the need to use one, hope I never have to use one. See above paragraph for my reasoning””
I put psychology majors in that statement also.

In college the girls majoring in psychology and sociology were the most popular on campus. If you knew some psych buzz words or gibberish, about 90% of them were easier than falling off a rolling log as it’s going over a waterfall.
Not really. I happen to know a few people through both my wife's and my work who are psychiatrists. Met them and talked with them in social situations. Strictly personal, non-professional discussions.
As far as visiting one of them on a professional, paid basis, my next visit would be my first, something I hope never to do.
On just what charge?
In the Constitution of the United States of America, provisions were made for removal ("impeachment and conviction") of the President in the case of "mal-practice or neglect of duty."
The framers of the Constitution deliberated extensively on what offenses were impeachable, finally agreeing (after a great deal of debate) on "Treason, or bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors."
Generally, legal comments (especially those from ratifying conventions) tend toward defining those other impeachable offenses as those of criminal, or grossly criminal, nature, although there continues to be a great deal of debate on this definition to this day.
People in the various states where these clowns have medical licenses need to file complaints with the State Medical Boards for these clowns are practicing unethical medicine by diagnosing without examination and evaluation.
File complaints.
Alinsky these POSs
39. Dominate the psychiatric profession and use mental health laws as a means of gaining coercive control over those who oppose Communist goals.

They’re just looking back at the old communist playbook. Anyone who disagreed with the communist party was claimed to be insane, and sent first to insane asylums, and later to gulags.

The ‘father of psychiatry’ Sigmund Freud was a drug addict.
There’s a very good book with the title ‘The Freudian Fallacy’ which clearly shows he caused his patients to become addicted to cocaine.
The original Dr Feelgood.
Actually, you just need to report them to their state board, and their license will be revoked. Go see what profession you can practice with a worthless degree and no license. At best, they sell tires or cars.
Just as social workers are generally female minorities who think the government should cater to females and minorities because they all been done wrong, the psychiatry field is populated with a bunch of mental whack-jobs who went that route because they knew they were “different” and wanted the educational authority to claim they were smarter and more normal as they screwed with other folks’ heads.
Still the most popular major in college.
Still the most popular major in college.

Maybe because there are no real facts to learn. It’s all subjective, and mostly opinion, of which yours is as good as the professor’s. Learn the historical names and the relative gibbberish vocabulary, and you can be an A student. Even Black Studies has some little bit of history to learn, not psychology or sociology.
I agree!
Not only are Progressives brilliant geniuses, but Progressive Psychiatrists are brilliant, scientific, clairvoyant geniuses who can diagnose people from thousands of miles away with shear, brilliant, thought processes that are based upon evolution that is beyond the mere mortals of the rest of the earth.
(One wonders if they should be called your highness, your excellency, your grace, or your brilliant-genius gift to humanity; difficult to choose, you know.)

IMHO
They also think buggery is “normal” and “healthy.”
Enough said.
