He said, I love it.
Yes, upon being informed in June 2016 he might soon be in receipt of information from the Russian government damaging to Hillary Clinton, Donald Trump Jr. responded with the words, I love it.
He didnt call the FBI to say he had evidence the Russian government was seeking to interfere with the presidential election of 2016. No, he said, I love it and set up a meeting with the shady Russian lawyer who, he was told, might share dirt with him.
He didnt steer the Trump campaign away to shield it from the stain of a potentially scandalous encounter with an operative working for Vladimir Putin. No, Trump Jr. brought the campaigns chairman, Paul Manafort, and his brother-in-law, Jared Kushner, into the meeting.
Donald Jr. loved it so, you see.
Now, the fact that Donald Jr. loved the idea of getting the goods on Hillary Clinton from a foreign antagonist doesnt suggest anything criminal in itself.
According to the three people who set up the meeting 1) Trump Jr., 2) a bizarre British publicist named Rob Goldstone and 3) a shady Russian lawyer named Natalia Veselvitskaya the proceedings ended up centering on Russias adoption policy.
So unless theyre dissembling and they could be no actual collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government took place at the meeting. If theyre not prevaricating, this isnt the smoking gun that will take down the Trump presidency.

The shady lawyer who was with obama officials 8 days later. Washington and the media need an enema.
Opposition Research. Is this something that the Trump family invented? Have any other political campaigns ever tried to find dirt on their opponents?
Couldn’t have anything to do with the former British spy being paid by the left?
Add the former British spy they paid.
And this time don’t those who are always defending him even try to defend him. It’s immoral.
When he said I love it, he also said to meet later this summer. Doesn’t sound to excited to receive information.
“And this time dont those who are always defending him even try to defend him. Its immoral”
Getting opposition material is Immoral? Drop dead.
Irony is lost on you. That is Podoretz’s argument. Jerk!
Irony is lost on you. That is Podoretz’s argument. Jerk!
Podhoretz is being more than a little disingenuous. The information initially given to Jr was about illegal contributions to Dems. It wasn’t some salacious bs about pageant dressing rooms and hotel beds. Who wouldn’t be happy to finally get the proof of what we all know about the Clintons and DNC?
John McStain is also in a picture on the Russian gals Facebook. Disgraceful!
The irony is always lost when you don’t express it properly.
Try expressing yourself better to avoid common misunderstandings.
Another one!
I was hoping that Don Jr. had, in his defense, just said that he was hoping to receive some information regarding the shady uranium deal that Hillary made, with the huge financial contributions to the Clinton Foundation. Americans have a right to know the details of this and he would have been happy to get them. He could have directed the conversation back to the criminal Hillary.
Trump Jr. follows up on opposition research. Very very bad... Then it led to nothing.
McCain sends a lackey to get the dossier addressing a made up golden bed incident. Very very good. Then others ran with it publishing it in the press for effect.
Trump Jr. is considered evil. Trump Sr. should resign...
McCain still the Elder Statesman.
I’m so sick of these double-standards and absurdities.
Three words, John Podhoretz: Fake Trump dossier.
This isn’t about now or today. The left wants to make sure they never lose an election again. I order to do this they want to ensure their candidates are insulated from oppo research that may discover misdeeds. It’s akin (if not the same) as assigning a negative connotation to the term “swift boating.”
Typical.
