A woman is dead and eight other people were wounded — including three kids — after a baby gender-reveal party in Ohio erupted in gunfire Saturday night, according to reports.
Among the victims in the Colerain Township shooting was a pregnant woman who lost the baby after receiving a bullet to her leg, a family member told NBC affiliate WLWT.
Authorities were searching for the assailant or assailants, who fled after shots rang out at a home around 11:30 p.m.
Five of the revelers — one in critical condition, three in fair and one stable — were hospitalized at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. The three children were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Police identified the slain woman as 22-year-old Autumn Garrett of Huntington, Ind., WLWT reported.
A bystander phoned 911, telling the dispatcher she’d seen a pair of men enter the house while sitting outside in her vehicle.

Doesn’t sound like it was a robbery gone wrong. They entered the home so I doubt it was even a mistaken address.
But the police are even hesitant to say that the 2 men are suspects.

My wife and I saved the surprise for ourselves. We didn’t know if our babies were XX or XY until birth.
Well, this one didn’t turn out well. I did some poking around but couldn’t find any information about the perps or possible motives, only journo-garble such as, “The police aren’t certain whether the two men with guns are suspects.” There was a mention that drug-dealing has become a big problem in the area in recent years. Various possibilities remain, including that the shooters included the now-dead gender-reveal baby’s father.
Regarding the concept of “gender-reveal” party, it seems to be an evolution of the “baby-shower.” I had baby showers for my first child (hosted by my co-workers) and my 10th (hosted by my church choir). Other than that, people just gave us things, if they wanted to, after the babies were born. We did not know the sex of our first before she was born, but we did with the 10th, although the name wasn’t decided until we were on the way to the hospital for the delivery.

The Cincinnati newspaper says none of the injuries is life-threatening. The poor little children! Lovely red hair on the man on the right.

My daughter did it during her annual ugly Christmas sweater party and her friends have done it. I find it to be stupid and incredibly self-absorbed. Just post it on Facebook and be done with it.

Can’t tell if you two are just being facetious, so I will define this stupid fad for you. At a “gender-reveal” the expectant mother lets her family and friends know what the sex of her unborn baby is.
