The path back to power for the Democratic Party today, as it was in the 1990s, is unquestionably to move to the center and reject the siren calls of the left, whose policies and ideas have weakened the party.
The last few years of the Obama administration and the 2016 primary season once again created a rush to the left. Identity politics, class warfare and big government all made comebacks. Candidates inspired by Senator Bernie Sanders, Senator Elizabeth Warren and a host of well-funded groups have embraced sharply leftist ideas. But the results at the voting booth have been anything but positive.
Central to the Democrats’ diminishment has been their loss of support among working-class voters, who feel abandoned by the party’s shift away from moderate positions on trade and immigration, from backing police and tough anti-crime measures, from trying to restore manufacturing jobs. They saw the party being mired too often in political correctness, transgender bathroom issues and policies offering more help to undocumented immigrants than to the heartland.
Americans are looking for can-do Democrats in the mold of John F. Kennedy and Bill Clinton — leaders who rose above partisanship to unify the country, who defended human rights and equality passionately, and who also encouraged economic growth and rising wages. That is the road back to relevance, and the White House, for the Democrats.

The bolded part is the kernel of what the Left is all about. The rest of it can be summed up as: "How do we fool enough of the rubes by pretending to be in the middle?"
This is so disloyal to their base, a real turning away from progressivism and the great new America that is possible. They apparently care only about winning, rather than the many great ideals of progressives. How can the Times possibly be this way? Oh, the huge manatee.
There has never been a time when democrat fascists were "in the center". There were times, brief as they were, when the democrat fascists properly read the populist sentiments of the majority and therefore claimed to represent the "center", but even during those brief intervals they couldn't hide the fact that they were nothing but self-proclaimed "elite" clique of corrupt wealthy bastards and perverts who built their fortunes on every sort of criminal activity from the slave trade to the opium trade in China.
Democrat fascists don't give a damn about average working people who have absolute fits of anger when anything threatens to slow the pace at which they're slaughtering average people in the womb. Defeating the Left's iron-fisted control of education (K-12 through university) is a much more difficult challenge and is going to take some time, but this, too, must be accomplished.
Because the Left's voting base and many of the Left's leaders are an emotional train wreck incapable of introspection and rehabilitation, the Left's breathtakingly consistent losses are likely to continue ... though some on the Left are just beginning to realize there are significant problems with denying reality and with denying human nature (the powerful innate desire for freedom).

The democrats core problem is not only their extreme leftist philosophy, it is their deep rooted strategy of identity politics.
Their cstrategy is to divide the population into 'tribes' and keep those tribes at war with political foes, the nation, the constitution, common sense and even other tribes.
Notice that the democrats politicking is always based on creating unhappiness, dissatisfaction, division and then ranting about fighting the status-quo.
We never hear them campaigning on the ideas of unifying the nation or talking about the things that we have in common or ways to bring us together.
That is why they promote the concept of diversity.
They want as many splinter groups as possible.
But their creation of special interest groups has basically reached the saturation point and they have become more and more radical in attempts to expand their voter base through the creation new tribes.
It was fairly easy to sell the idea that blacks constitute a distinct group with unique interests.
It is a much different matter to convince the general population that there are 5, 10, 15 or 20 different sexes that deserve special consideration.

Well, that’s just a smoke screen for not saying what you’ll really do. It probably meant: continue to grow the spend side of government, but make a modest effort to reduce fraud.
In other words: posturing to be good stewards of the public trust while doubling down on gubment gimme dats and more Obama destruction of the culture.

Some on the left, those who are purely in it for the power, understand that human nature is intractable therefore a large part of the population will have to be killed off, as many as it takes until only those with dysfunctional natural characteristics remain. And it will have to be done continually as normal humans will continue to be born. They do believe that when they are in control they will concentrate technological development to the point that they can modify human nature in the womb. There are two problems with that. Once they gain the control they seek, technological innovation will cease and the New Man they hope to create by genetic modification will prove to be unviable and/or sterile.
I am making one last plea to my Democrat Reps, DeFazio, Merkley and Wyden to please help fix the ACA. I do not want single payer as I fear when the democrats are in charge of administering who gets what care, if they find out I am an R, they will deny, they are very vindictive.
