There is an interesting deep story to the internet war on CNN.
TimeWarner is the parent of CNN. But TimeWarner is much, much more than CNN.
The corporate giant also owns HBO, TNT, the film studio Warner Bros, DC Comics, (10% of Hulu), Time Inc., AOL, Time Warner Cable, Warner Books and Warner Music Group--among various other media entities.
The theme that ties them all together is that they are all businesses oriented toward the consumer. That is, the types of businesses that are vulnerable from many directions to the type of internet attack that has been launched against CNN.
Here's the $85.4 billion kicker.
AT&T Inc has announced an $85.4 billion deal to buy Time Warner. The merger is currently being reviewed by the Justice Department.
AT&T Inc. is another very heavily consumer-oriented business with its cell phone business and other cable, telecommunications and digital entertainment services.

Do you remember when some conservative with big bucks was rumored to be buying the New York Times? Maybe we could get a group together of wealthy conservatives (led by El Rushbo) to offer to buy CNN alone.
They wouldn’t have to actually buy it but probably half of the loony leftists would quit on the spot if rumored to be true. That would be friggin’ hilarious to watch.
I was thinking TWC was split with Charter buying their CATV assets and now AT+T is trying to buy their internet and ISP assets.
If I am seeing the picture in post 10 correctly, all of the attackers are black and the victim is white. Does that constitute a hate crime?
Yes, Timer Warner doesn’t own Time Warner Cable. The ‘expert’ is just sharing his ignorance with us. Perhaps he’s trying for a job with the main stream media.
I don't even live in America and I heard that he was assassinated by women and minorities. But you are correct in the assumption that there would be a totally different media reaction if an Obama character was killed by whites.
I did a lot of work with AT&T, have a friend in Atlanta who knows all the top dogs. Hard core republican, he probably has the inside story.
Their support leaves a lot to be desired, I built outsourced call centers for them and they were still not one company but an amalgam of 4-5 ex regionals, their procedures were antiquated and I personally am not a fan. Was on the team when t-mobile merger was a possibility, that would have been a real rodeo. Sat business support is still bad, my niece has it and it took days to get things correct just trying to shift a phone number from a tablet to a land line.
The last thing they need is a bunch of whiny pajama nuts dragging down that investment as cable is going through it’s own issues with cord cutters moving to alternate providers
I am wiling to bet they kick azz and take names as they already have a bad rep and they cannot lose customers with that anchor hung around their neck
Changes in store, oh I would take that bet
Thanks for the clarification!
Thats Time Warner CABLE - just the cable TV business was sold in May 2016.
What AT&T is buying is Time Warner Corporation (TWX) which is a public company that includes all of the Turner properties (i.e. TNT, CNN, etc), HBO, and Warner Brothers.
Its an $85 billion deal.
NOTHING to do with Spectrum aka the old Time Warner cable TV company
I read Time Warner owns Reddit too.
One would think so, wouldn't one?
FMCDH(BITS)
Timewarner Cable is owned by Spectrum.
Thanx
