Police say five people have been taken into custody after trying to disrupt the annual Nathan's Famous July Fourth hot dog eating contest in New York.
About midway through the men's competition, some people amid the crowd of spectators at the contest on the Coney Island boardwalk appeared to be trying to unfold a black banner.
Police stationed at the event rushed into the crowd, handcuffed the demonstrators and took them away.

I’ll second that. Nothing on earth like Zweigle’s White Hots. The way they split open on the grill. You can even get them air-shipped overnight anywhere!
I can still get Zweigle’s Hots by driving to Syracuse, which is less than an hour away. My oldest son loves the White Hots, so I buy them for him whenever he plans on coming for a visit. He says they are the closest thing he’s found to the Bratwurst he gets when he visits Berlin.

I have often thought that he must have been a real gas to converse with.
As I read things that he said in interviews and watched
him being interviewed I found myself agreeing with much
and disagreeing with much.

PETA otoh seems to have held a more more civilized protest ––handing out free vegetarian hot dogs. As long as they didn't force anyone to eat them ...

Nuns First Hot Dog
Two Scottish nuns have just arrived in the USA by boat and one says to the other, “I hear Americans actually eat dogs.”
“Odd,” her companion replies, “but if we shall live in America, we might as well do as the Americans do.”
Nodding emphatically, the mother superior points to a hot dog vendor and they both walk toward him.
“Two dogs, please,” says one.
The vendor is only too pleased to oblige and wraps both hot dogs in foil.
Excited, the nuns hurry over to a bench and begin to unwrap their ‘dogs.’
The mother superior is first to open hers. Staring at it for a moment, she leans over to the other nun and whispers cautiously, “What part did you get?”
