A black digital magazine featured a video showing black people explaining why they refused to celebrate the Fourth of July.

The Root released “No Country for Me,” a video in which black Philadelphians list the issues they have with America’s founding and how that prevents them from celebrating the creation of the nation.

“I’ve never identified with even being American, even though I’m born here,” Shani Akilah says at the video’s beginning. “At the inception of this country, it was based off of oppression and murder and colonization and rape. And so we are rotten at our core.”

WOW! The ignorance on display. So, who's at fault for them never learning about the founding of this country? My guess would be the "great society" push of the last 50+ years may have something to do with it. They are not "prevented" from celebrating it, the choose to NOT celebrate it. If you're that unhappy and hate this country that much, there are modes of transportation leaving several times a day headed southeast across the Atlantic.

The Root released “No Country for Me,”

They're free to get the fat hell out of here . . . who's stopping them? . . .

Of course the group think mind guards are in full effect today.

Their members are particularly vulnerable to seeing the truth on the 4th.

May these misguided people find a country they like better and go there.

“They’re free to get the fat hell out of here . . . who’s stopping them? . . .”

Exactly. Nothing is stopping them from leaving.

I would suggest they try celebrating their unhappiness in whatever country they feel like belonging to more, like any one of the african nations, as I recall Liberia was founded for folks just like them.

“I’ve never identified with even being American, even though I’m born here,”

Exactly why a family can immigrate from Southeast Asia and assimilate within a single generation while after all this time Blacks remain "immigrants".

The “obvious answer” here is not unlike what we need to do with the Mexican illegals. Since they want to be referred to as African-Americans, we should simply repatriate them all to their “homelands” in Africa. Since they can’t seem to “adjust to civilized society” for the most part, perhaps the answer is a one-way plane ticket home and a complimentary loin cloth. As for the small cadre of decent Blacks here who love this country, keep them, nurture them, and let them build their lives within the community of the whole here. They are welcome to live next door to me any time.

>>And then I think about Native Americans and the subjugation of Native Americans and how meaning free for white Americans or British Americans or all of these people that were kicked out of England meant the death of all these Native people, ” Rodeeia Carson said. “So I can’t see freedom in that.”<<

Human civilization is a story of conquest. Chances are good that the African tribe your ancestors was conquered by a neighboring tribe — and VERY good that if you are descended from slaves your ancestors were sold into slavery by that tribe. You need to go find that tribe and join them so you can be connected to the proper culture.

Maybe they need the airfare. We could help if they signed a pledge to leave.

That was why we created Liberia.

Makes you wonder: start a country completely by and for blacks and it becomes immediately and permanently corrupt. Hmmmmm.

Every country on the planet, for thousands and thousands of years, has had slaves and/or indentured servants. When we were formaed as a Nation, so did we.

The difference between America and all the other countries in the world is that within our first century as a Nation, we freed our slaves and made slavery illegal.

And these drooling yaybos think we're the bad guys? The only country within which hundreds of thousands of White Men VOLUNTARILY DIED TO FREE BLACKS FROM SLAVERY???!!!!

These snivelling ingrates can get on their knees and thank us, or they can accept the consequences of their willfully ignorant laziness. I've had it with their pathetic finger pointing.

Where you from?

Da hood.

Which one?

Da Victimhood, yo.

What amazes me from people on the left is that they do not put things into historical context. Everywhere on the planet in 1776, and I do mean everywhere, there was racism, sexism, slavery. Probably the only place that did not have some form of slavery was around the arctic circle.

The left judges the founding with modern standards and says "not good enough and actually horrible that freedom was not extended to all people at the founding". Rather than look at the miracle of the founding and its very promising beginnings, they judge against today rather than the world at its time.

I think some people who don't celebrate have been misled and have not thought about the context of the founding. Others intentionally mislead and it is those people on the left who are the most dangerous and disingenuous, and who are the true enemies of freedom. We should not be surprised they are still with us, they actually have been around since the founding of this great nation of ours...Teaching the proper context of July 4th, 1776 is the most patriotic thing we can do, we need to take the schools back.

A great democrat once observed that keeping them ignorant and pissed off would ensure their support at the polls.
