Politicians are notorious for making promises they can't keep. But they really outdid themselves in Illinois -- and now the state is paying for it.
Illinois is on the verge of becoming America's first state with a junk credit rating. The financial mess is the inevitable result of spending more on pensions and services than the state could afford -- then covering it up with reckless budget tricks.
After decades of historic mismanagement, Illinois is now grappling with $15 billion of unpaid bills and an unthinkable quarter-trillion dollars owed to public employees when they retire.
The budget crisis has forced Illinois to jack up property taxes so high that people are leaving in droves. Illinois may soon have to take the unprecedented step of cutting off sales of lottery tickets because the state won't be able to pay winners.
It will get worse if lawmakers can't reach a budget compromise by Friday. This would be the third year in a row that America's fifth-largest state has failed to pass a constitutionally required budget.

Easy answer: Chicago controls the state.
Illinois can fix it EASY! Just raise the state income tax to 100%. it won’t take a dozen years to pay enough into the pension fund to make it solvent and to take care of all the other delinquencies. Well, maybe two dozen years to cover for the ongoing theft. I’m sure the population will eagerly pay that rate to get this problem behind then and Illinois can be Prosperous Again! Alternatively, put the state and Chicago governments all in jail and send the whole place into receivership.
Restrictive gun laws and high taxes; anything that’s a consumable is taxed, anything that is needed is taxed. They even tax grandparents social security.. Next up: Rain and sunshine.

Actually the Democratic Party controls Chicago and has historically run the state (at least most of the time in recent decades). One party rule is usually bad. When the one party rule is Democratic, bad usually becomes disastrous.
Let’s not forget the Chicago Mayor, Rahm Emanuel. You can almost believe Emanuel was sent to Chicago by Obama... to make Illinois a better place to live. LOL
It may be redundant, but with the huge mob influence in the state, you could add the word CORRUPTION as well.
No need for any additional words, “corruption” is synonymous with democrats

And a big helping of Black RATs. I must admit I continue to be amazed that the population of Chicago isn’t going down like a submarine with screen doors, given the combination of Black on Black Murder and the Black Abortion rate. Illicit procreation must be running at an all-time high.
But that is not what this article said. They said it was both parties who were at fault and we know that the media never lies.
Combine between corrupt republicans and stupendously corrupt Democrats.

For a few years now, as I cross The Ill. State, I make it a point not to stop instate to buy anything, like gas and fast food.
Who wants to contribute to delinquency?
