I've got an idea about repealing and replacing Obamacare

Posted on 06/28/2017 9:41:44 AM PDT by Gunpowder green

Obamacare is imploding, as we all knew it would, due to the crazy regulations and unlimited liabilities for providers. Some areas now have no insurance carriers covering them, because the cost and risk are too high. In other areas providers are threatening to pull out for the same reason.

The issue is how to fix this, and do it in such a way that we keep getting good coverage, access, affordable premiums, and choices.

How about this? Every citizen gets a high-deductible plan, with a $50,000 deductible. This wouldn't pay a dime before $50,000, so it ought to be relatively cheap. This wouldn't be your only insurance.

On top of this, everyone who wants to buys a plan on the free market that covers up to %50,000. This would be good for providers, because their liability would be limited to $50,000, instead of infinity, they could provide the quality insurance coverage that they used to, without unlimited risk.

More companies would offer plans, the competition should drive down prices, there would be plenty of choices... everybody wins.

If you knock out the unlimited exposure for insurance companies, providing insurance becomes profitable again.

What do you think?

What’s happening to Obamacare is exactly what was intended to happen. It was supposed to implode so a single payer system could be put into place. But Hillary was supposed to be president.

How about making health insurance illegal?
Then see were the health care market prices go.

The only fix is to give all citizens the same coverage that is given to Congress, the Senate, and the President.

Obamacare is NOT imploding.

Yes, it is super expensive, corrupt-crony-capitalist insurance companies are withdrawing, its a huge expansion of medicaid, and its killing jobs, and robbing the middle class.

But it is NOT imploding. It has the force of Fed.gov behind it with all its massive debt and printed money and won’t be repealed.

It will continue to distort and destroy American health-care long into the future.

The Republicans should let it implode by failing to repeal or replace. Dems will be blamed, as they should be, because of both the way they created Obamacare and because they made every effort to undermine saving it.

Then people would have no coverage and we can restart clean. I'd then give low priority to benefits that benefited Dems as they most likely never contributed to the budget.

I think one hundred percent of plans involving citizens being required to buy insurance are pure socialism, and I am opposed. On the other hand, I have been opposed to medical centers being required to treat patients without payment already arranged since that began to happen too.

I am consistent.

Doctors and medical centers are steadily withdrawing from participation.

No matter how much PGR88 claps his hands and believes real hard...that is imploding.

Considering you joined in 2013, I expected you to mark your Vanity as such.

As for the topic of discussion, the solution is variable plans and limiting medical liability lawsuits.

You’re right about that. Obamacare gets worse and worse as time goes by. And that’s all on the Democrats. Folks need to know that, and understand that.

This GOP tinkering just confuses the issue. And it gives the Dem’s a chance to deflect, and to muddy the waters...which they are doing with some success.

OK. This would work fine if everybody also bought insurance to cover their bills up to $50,000.

Unfortunately, we have created a huge ‘loser’ class of people who believe they do not have to work and are entitled to receive all kinds of ‘free stuff’ from the government.

As our former President Obama said so many times. We need to ‘fundamentally transform America.’

Well, the new ‘fundamental transformation’ of America will immediately stop welfare payments of any kind to those people who are physically and mentally able to work.

No more will we import illegals into the USA because the millions of citizens, who are able to work, but do not work because welfare is a more lucrative job.

BS - what world do you live in? I am still a captive of the Obamacare exchange in my state. My monthly rates and deductibles have gone up continuously. Doctors may not like it either, but they have no choice, nor do I, until cash and a free-market is made a serious choice. No one is talking about setting us free from that.

US Congress continues to vote funds for nearly all aspects of Obamacare. State-regulated hospitals will not change their payment processes either until the law changes. Instead of snarky, uninformed comments - Please tell me - what does "implosion" look like to you?

Brilliant plan. If insurance costs too much, break it into two parts and now it's suddenly affordable. Sum of the parts equals the whole, you know - just kidding, I know you don't.

You've changed nothing with your plan but you've made a good presentation and you sound sincere. You should run for Congress. You would fit right in there.

I think you need to go back to the drawing board - you just opened the door for at least $50K fraud and abuse by every insured citizen and their maybe not so scrupulous doctors.
