Montana Rep. Greg Gianforte pulled in $116,000 in campaign donations on the day of his election, hours after he assaulted a Guardian reporter during an interview the night before.
Many expected Gianforte, who was running to fill Interior Secretary Ryan Zinkes vacant house seat in a May 25 special election, to lose after he grabbed Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs by the neck and threw him to the ground.
Instead, Gianforte won the election by a six percent margin and raised more than $100,000 on election day, according to campaign disclosures first reported by The Guardian.
The election day donations totaled more than the previous five days of fundraising combined, a rare feat in political fundraising since a campaign cant do much with donations on the day of the election. (RELATED: Montana Voters Are Supportive Of Congressional Candidate Body Slamming A Reporter)
Gianforte has since apologized to Jacobs, and offered to donate $50,000 to the Committee to Protect Journalists to settle any civil claims. Gianforte also pled guilty to assault charges, and was sentenced to community service, fined $385 and ordered to take anger management classes.

Well, that’s one way to finance a campaign......................
The last minute donations speak volumes, for what the voters actually think of the media.
Choking and body slamming a journalist should get a medal IMHO.

This is the part of all of it I find disgusting. The reporter actually deserved a lot more than he got. The only good news is is that the voters responded in a proper manner to the episode. This is the kind of person we need in the Congress. The $50k should have gone to Guido the Leg Breaker for future “activities” against $hit ball “journalists!”
Campaign finance, Wrestle-Mania smackdown style! A novel innovation.
I’d pay good money to see a conservative congressman throw a beating to some MSM puke, and make them literally eat their words.
I still remember President Trump shaving Vince McMahon’s hair off. It was epic.
He wasn’t a reporter.
He was an Obama-Ton paid to get in the face of those Obama was targeting and get it on camera.
I will bet he is looking over his shoulder when he is at one of these functions now. He was very rude, but most of the media libs act like this like they had no parents.
Let this be a lesson to all you other GOP pussies running for election...
I sent him $50 after I heard about him fighting back against a rude Democrat masquerading as a reporter.
The fact that the reporter was from the Guardian undoubtedly brought in extra donations.
He was a foreign agent paid to interfere with the election.
Those facts are incontrovertible.
I have to disagree. I think it is unfair to compare the reporter in Montana to the national media fake news crowd on the Trump witch hunt. The incident in Montana was just a typical reporter trying to get an answer from a typically evasive politician to a legitimate question. Gianforte recognized he was in the wrong and is trying to make amends.
Choking and body slamming enemy scum salute!
Gianforte is “John Strong” in Italian.
Do you think the Trump Administration would get high marks if, during the temper-tantrum filled pressed, she walked down from the podium and bitch-slapped the Playboy “reporter” off his chair?

In the 20th century, we’d see countries undergo changes and they’d get rid of the media. Always kind of surprised me.
Now I see that the Fourth Estate is nothing more than a DNC Fifth Column.
Other than Sharyl Attkisson, Lou Dobbs, Hannity on many days and probably a handful of others, real journalism is all but dead in America.
Fake news. I hope the money’s real though.
There’s a lesson in this story, but I doubt the leftoid drones in the MSM get it.
