Filipinos would be required to sing the national anthem when it is played in public and to do so with enthusiasm under a bill that the House of Representatives of the Philippines approved on Monday.
If the bill, which will be considered by the Senate, is approved and signed into law, a failure to sing the anthem, Lupang Hinirang, with sufficient energy would be punishable by up to year in prison and a fine of 50,000 to 100,000 pesos, or about $1,000 to $2,000. A second offense would include both a fine and prison time, and violators would be penalized by public censure in a newspaper.
The singing shall be mandatory and must be done with fervor, the bill states.

Thailand does something similar I believe.
It is strongly advised the one follow that protocol while in Thailand.
something wrong when a country has to force loyalty
I was at a mining camp in Indonesia and was warned about this daily ritual as well. They told the story of some Australian that kept driving until a security guy stopped him. The security guy motioned for him to wind down his window. Then he cracked him in the head with his rifle butt.
Another time one of the guards had a guy in his sights as the guy (drunk) was climbing up the flag pole to steal the flag. His buddies watching included a foreman, that was able to plead with the guard not to shoot him. He spent some time in an Indonesian prison though.
“You damn well BETTER like it, MF’er. Or else!!”
Duerte is becoming more like Cousin Kim every week.
Some of our folks need to go over there and protest by burning the Philipine flag. /s
Trying to one-up NK?
All citizens will make merry, on pain of death.
“Thailand does something similar I believe.”
If you really want to have a laugh, go to Thailand and when speaking to cops and other officials, call it “Taiwan” and call the people “Taiwanese.”
The state police get a big kick out of that.
Wow I have been to Thailand several times.
I had no idea about this law.
Completely unaware. Thanks.
The beatings will continue until moral improves!
I can believe that. We used to own a vacation flat in Bangkok.
Bangkok was our get-a-way location as it didn’t require a visa for us to visit from Hong Kong. The kids always enjoyed Thailand when they were little.
What’s next? A law requiring citizens to change their underwear every half hour? (and they’d have to wear it on the outside so that authorities could check)
LOL!
Asians seem to love destroying humanity, especially their own kind.
