BERLIN — In a coordinated campaign across 14 states, the German police on Tuesday raided the homes of 36 people accused of hateful postings over social media, including threats, coercion and incitement to racism.

The raids come as Germans are debating the draft of a new social media law aimed at cracking down on hate speech, a measure that an array of experts said was unconstitutional at a parliamentary hearing on Monday.

According to Mr. Mihr, Germany’s current instruments for persecuting hate speech, as demonstrated by Tuesday’s raids, are working. “The raid shows that we don’t need this law because we have already instruments for persecuting such crimes,” he said.

Since Germany enacted their 'hateful postings' law, he has decided to end his involvement in his blog because almost anything that offends someone there can be grounds for prosecution and heavy fines there.

I’d like to know what constituted Hate Speech for these raids. Judging from the reactions to Geert Wilder speaking the documented truth is hate speech to Big Brother.
Yet known islamics will be monitored until the mass carnage followed by warnings against “islamophobia”.
Oh, stuff like quoting the Koran or Hadiths, or from speeches by Imams.
Hate speech. Wilders was arrested for his movie Fitna and thus his huge trial, first one. Have you seen Fitna? Nothing but direct quotes from Koran and imams.
From a totalitarian perspective, it’s brilliant in its simplicity. Controlling social media content in this manner does 3 things. First, it prevents organization and actual collusion between those who oppose your narrative. Second, it further isolates those who may otherwise oppose your narrative. (Gee, nobody else is complaining so I guess I’m the only one.) Lastly, it gives you a mechanism by which you can identify and “legally” imprison those who dare break the “law.”
While it does nothing to dissuade the hard-core insurgents who will be relegated to meeting f-t-f, in much smaller groups, at shadowy locations; (You know, sort of how our rebellious founding fathers put their rebellion together, in a way) cracking down against social media is a no-brainer first step to tightening the reins of power given our present communication conduits.

You can also receive huge finalcial kickbacks from the social media providers to allowing them the “privilege” to offer your “citizens” content within your borders. (The cash stack must be this tall, to ride this ride.)
