llinois is like Venezuela now, a fiscally broken state that has lost its will to live, although for the moment, we still have enough toilet paper.
But before we run out of the essentials, let's finally admit that after decade upon decade of taxing and spending and borrowing, Illinois has finally run out of other people's money.
Those "other people" include taxpayers who've abandoned the state. And now Illinois faces doomsday.
So as the politicians meet in Springfield this week for another round of posturing and gesturing and blaming, we need a plan.
And here it is:

John Kass's modest proposal for the dissolution of Illinois: Carve up the failed state and let the rest of the Midwest have it. (Ryan Marx)
Wisconsin needs to fortify the Cheddar Curtain now.
I have to believe that if Hillary were in the White House, or we had a Democratically-controlled Congress (though who can tell sometimes?), a multi-billion dollar bailout would be in the works, courtesy of the US taxpayer.
A better idea:
I would like to see States be able to go bankrupt due to their corruption and inability to be fiscally responsible.
With the following condition:
All debts and contracts will be null and void.
The State will be immediately turned into a territory. The State shall loose all Senators and Congressmen and all representation in the Federal Government to include the right to vote in Federal Elections.
A Federal Governor will then be appointed to run the State under Federal Receivership. He/She will be able to make all decisions until that time as the territory will be admitted back into the union with a positive financial history.
First step: ban Obama form the state. There will be immediate benefits.
If you think the Illinois response to the sin of endless deficit spending and bankruptcy is odd, wait a year and watch California.
He’s on the right track but no way will Wisconsin take Chicago, even with naming rights. But it’s a simple mod - just ringfence Chicago with a nice big beautiful wall - and put toll gates in it to charge people who want to come OUT (no one will want to go IN). Call it Rahmonia or Obamaland or Hell or whatever...
The rest makes sense. Downstate IL is as red as IN or IA with a few exceptions like college towns and the St. Louis area, where the river should be re-routed to it’s on the Missouri side and let them deal with it.
It may work, IF you carve out all of Cook County, and turn it into a federal penitentiary, ala: Escape from NY.
A good start would be to run Rahm Emmanuel and other Chicago Democrats out of town on a rail and ban the Democratic Party in the state for 50 years.
I worry that there is a good chance of that happening anyway.
There’s just one problem with this idea.
No one wants the refugees.
Simple solution... don’t pay the pensions.
Let them stew in their own juice. Make them fix this problem themselves.
Why hells bells this is an awesome idea. That and calexit we will be living my dream!!!’
The name Michael Madigan (father of the Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan) needs to have his name irrevocably attached to this debacle.
He is the architect of the problems in Illinois he’s been the shadow governor for the last 30+ years.
Madigan needs a pair of cement shoes.
Yeah — except that little northwest corner of Indiana that appears to be in Wisconsin with Chicago needs to stay in Indiana. I didn’t move away from Chicago for nothing.
That’s it. It’s not like overspending on road repairs or state parks is what put IL in this sad shape. Yet the Democrat-controlled legislature refuses to deal with the heart of the issue (pensions and unions) because they know it would be the end of their power.
IL’s financial mess has nothing to do with not having enough income. This is a wealthy state with many assets. It has everything to do with overspending on entitlement to unionized workers and then their pensions after they retire.
...let’s finally admit that after decade upon decade of taxing and spending and borrowing, Illinois has finally run out of other people’s money.
It’s taking Venezuela a long time to get there. It will take Illinois a long time to get there. But it will get really ugly in the meantime, as in Venezuela.
Really don’t care what happens to that shite hole as long as we, the U.S. taxpayer, don’t get “hooked” paying for all their liberal insane BS. Southern Illinois should become part of another state as shown on the map. The northern part should be fenced off and turned into a Federal penitentiary or territory run by a federally-appointed governor. No one is to leave. As RATs are convicted, they should be sent there to serve the life terms.
