Democrats just cant seem to win an election in the Trump era. With last nights losses in Georgia and South Carolina, Democratic House candidates are zero-for-four in special elections against Republicans this year.
Its easy to look at this pattern and think that Democrats are doing something fundamentally wrong that they cant close the deal with voters and are destined to keep coming up short in next years midterms.
But if thats the easy conclusion, its also the wrong one.
Politically, Democrats are doing fine for a party out of power. It obviously would have been better to have won one of last nights races, especially given the hopes in Georgia. But the party still has a real chance to retake the House next year. A disappointing loss doesnt change that fact.
To be clear, the Democratic Party has an enormous amount of work to do. It doesnt hold the White House, the Senate or the House, and it holds only about one in three governorships and state legislatures. Yet a handful of close losses in conservative districts shouldnt make Democrats panic, no matter what this mornings punditry says.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA . . . Sure they’ll win big time in 12018 . . . HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
and in 2018 too

Only if they shoot most of the GOP members of the house. Which as we’ve seen might be part of their plans.
No it wasn’t even close. But do keep lying to yourselves Dems. You have NO chance to take back the house, just might give the GOP a fillbuster proof US Senate and probably going to lose a whole lot more state and local elections in 2018.
You road of losing is only begun Democrats. The end is no where in sight.
It’s built into the DNA of the DNC that the solution to any problem is to throw money at it. So, it’s quite simple... they just didn’t spend enough California Cash to “get their message out”.
Couldn’t possibly be anything wrong with the message, don’tchaknow.
Hahaha! Sure.
I agree with this article.
The Democrats are doing great.
They need to keep it up, keep their leadership in place, keep playing the Russians under the bed and immigrants are great cards.
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, just to be sure let’s check with Albert Einstein and see if he can offer any insight:
“Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
oops :-)
‘You road of losing is only begun Democrats. The end is no where in sight.’
exactly what the Dems taunted the Pubs with in 2008...
Wrong again. You do delight in being habitually wrong don’t you?
It’s fine with me, but I’m having trouble understanding how the Dems think anything good is coming their way in 2018. It’s an established fact that their voters don’t turn out in midterms like ours do, and incumbency has always been the rule in Congress.
The Democrats are the blind man walking without a cane or guide dog and they keep running into the wall. The party leaders know the problems. They have no policies or fresh ideas, and have to rely on smear and conspiracy to stay afloat. They can’t tell their moonbat zombie supporters that there is no evidence to impeach President Trump after promising to get rid of him. It would destroy their party because the zombies will revolt. Democrats are on the edge of the cliff and about to fall off.
Buck up as in Buck Ofama?
Buck Up, Democrats

My sentiments exactly.
Except I would use a word similar to buck.
And instead of ‘up’, I would say “off”.
I heard a good one - They are lecturing (yelling) at the voters instead of listening to them.
Pundits like to characterize Social Security as the “third rail” in politics, and maybe it is for the Republicans. But it seems the third rail for Dems is health care. HillaryCare started the downslide for Democrats in the nineties and ObamaCare administered a further blow. (I don’t count Obama’s re-election in 2013 because the Dems had specifically kept the effects of ObamaCare from hitting home until 2014.)
