HALETHORPE, Md. (WBFF) - A man who was breaking into a car in the Halethorpe/Lansdowne area Sunday morning was found dead after a witness tried to "hold" him until police responded, said Baltimore County police.
Police did not immediately clarify if the witness killed the suspect, but the incident is being investigated as a "suspicious death."
The witness was in the parking lot of a business on Annapolis Road near Virginia Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. when he saw another man breaking into a car on the lot, said police.

upper 80s low 90s there. Maybe he locked him in the car and he died from heat stress?
Not at 8:30 AM. It’s just warming up in the morning, and the sun hasn’t had a chance to get the car baking.
Death penalty for attempted car theft? Maybe crime is not a good career choice.
Some people do the right thing, but while using the wrong technique. This guy may need to lawyer up.
I’ve heard of excessive force being used on shoplifters, sometimes to the point of killing that potential thief. Not that they didn’t deserve it, but most stores don’t want their employees grappling on the hard floor with a desperate crook.
I know of a guy who was fired from Walmart for helping to pin a thief down till the cops came.
I was out mowing my back yard around 9 AM ten miles north of this location and I sweated my ass off in the fifteen minutes it took me. I bet when the name of the deceased is released, I will run the name in Maryland Judiciary Case Search and find a list of crimes. The vehicle owner probably saved us taxpayers lots of money. Kudos to him.
My guess is that the thief had a history of this kind of thing.
Yes, let us know what you find out.
Chokeholds work.
Dang, Sherlock, you got me.
Okay, the car had a really kick but heater?
The perp’s necktie got caught in the fan belt?
He ran himself over?

My car was stolen a couple months ago. Ergo, regarding this story, "That's hard news...grievous hard.
My older grandson had studied Brazilian jiu-jitsu. I've seen those chokeholds.
Choked out, most likely.
Arm chair detective, good fun.
Maybe the failed car thief got his head jammed in between the door and door frame... several times. That’s a risk car thieves sometimes run into, especially failed car thieves.
I have no problem with a thug dying while in the act of committing a crime. Saved taxpayers a lot of money and helped a number of future victims avoid being victimized.
It wasn’t the owner who detained the suspect with extreme prejudice, but a witness, a good samaritan. Actually a great samaritan.
I have no pity on the POS.
80 degrees was enough to knock down hillary last September
My brother bought the crappiest $65 car stereo he could find and some asshole still threw a rock through his window and destroyed his dashboard stealing it.
Sucks this dude couldn't have made better choices in life but that was up to him. Hope the guy that killed him finds mercy in the law.
