Trump Will Allow ‘Dreamers’ to Stay in U.S., Reversing Campaign Promise
The New York Times ^ | JUNE 16, 2017 | MICHAEL D. SHEAR

WASHINGTON — President Trump has officially reversed his campaign pledge to deport the so-called Dreamers, undocumented immigrants who came to the United States as small children.

The Department of Homeland Security announced late Thursday night that it would continue the Obama-era program intended to protect those immigrants from deportation and provide them work permits so they can find legal employment.

A fact sheet posted on the department’s website says immigrants enrolled in the 2012 program, known as Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, “will continue to be eligible” to renew every two years and notes that “no work permits will be terminated prior to their current expiration dates.”...

These kids were not born here. They need to go to Mexico. AMF. Anchor babies(now adults) have US birth certificates.

IMHO. The President should have closed DACA to new applications on day one. He STILL should. Politically it’s a win win. Those in the system continue to be eligible for renewal (for now) and closing new apps removes that incentive for illegal entry.

Buried in the Compost story about Trump killing DAPA, it mentions in passing that the administration has a “for now” policy on DACA.

The fake media’s repeated spin on this is clearly a message to all south of the border to come on in. The multiple posts of those same “news” items here is an attempt to get our side to jump ship.

Mr. Trump and his backers really need to apologize to Ted Cruz and all conservatives.

For what? Having the most conservative immigration policy in the last 50 years?

Try to control your tendency to indulge your #NeverTrump impulses. The President has been doing magnificently so far—especially with immigration policy.

Boy, talk about seeing the glass as half empty!

President Trump is only keeping 95% of his campaign promises, not 100%? What a bunch of petty nitpicking...

The law I’m referring to is when the DREAMERS were told they had to register, meet certain conditions, and they could stay in the US for a period of time. Granted, it never should’ve been allowed. But it was. Those who signed up did what they were supposed to do. Let those who signed up stay for that period of time, but those who didn’t have to go home. It would send the correct message.

What a D###! :)

He recinded the right for parents of anchor babies to stay and it was a trade off.

Guys like you HAVE hated Trump and will CONTINUE to hate Trump.

But we didn’t need you to win

I question that children born here to illegals are legitimately U.S. citizens. I think not.

That’s right. Contrary to a lot of who-ha from the Left and here on FR, Trump’s focus was on criminal illegals.

The NYT’s are LIARS!

It's not a law. It's an illegal Executive Order. Barry stated for his first term that he didn't have the authority and did it in his second term.

Cry,whine all you want. Dreamers get not one tear from me but then I'm still stupid enough to believe in a sovereign republic.

You take it upon yourself to insult my grandparents, parents, myself and my siblings.

You smarmy little punk.

My family came here LEGALLY with nothing, nothing but brains and guts and a backbone, the likes of which you know nothing at all.

And they and we all have worked to honor our name, our hometowns, our country to which we give allegiance and thanks, and most of all to the good Lord who gave us the chance.

For a chickenshit keyboard pussbag even to wag his diseased little tongue in the direction of my family-—believe me, quickwad....he would do it just ONCE to my face...just ONCE I say...then would utter an insult to me or anyone else never again.

But you wouldn’t ever try such a thing in a man’s presence, would you?

Hell no, you wouldn’t, and we all know it.

Trump did not promise to deport dreamers.

He said

Build wall

Deport criminals

Then we’ll discuss where we’re at.

That’s what I remember

'We either have a country or we don't"

Remember the Obama unconstitutional executive order on DACA. That was part of Trump's rallying cry.

Trump said he would repeal it.

Campaign Trump said they have to go. That was in 2015. Campaign Trump is different than President Trump. Like most Presidents.

Now, the point is to keep him at his word. This has always been the problem. A repub becomes pres then we just let them slide by.

Everytime the Trump adminstration does something bad on immigration, we see the elderly neocons and globalists here on FR defending the bad actions or making excuses.

It’s the same mindless personal loyalty to a politician that we saw with Bush.

Spoken like a true #NeverTrumper. "Neocons and globalists"? LOL! What reeking horsesh!t. Talk about hyperbole!

It’s the same mindless personal loyalty to a politician that we saw with Bush.

Balderdash.

President Trump's immigration policy has been superb—despite his broken "promise" regarding Dreamers.

The President has begun implementing the most conservative immigration policy in the last half century. Is it perfect? No. Boo friggin' hoo.

Indulging hysterical impulses—simply because the President is only keeping 95% percent of his campaign promises instead of 100%—is both disingenuous, and in denial of the great things he is doing.

Conservatives couldn't in their wildest dreams hope for a better President to be in the White House. And becuse most of them aren't moaning and groaning, they're "neocons and globalists"? What garbage.

Personal loyalty? Yes. Mindless? No way.

In case you haven't noticed, we're at war. So for Trump-bashers who insist on making the perfect the enemy of the good, I feel sorry for them. It's the height of pettiness. And it invariably comes from the same familiar crowd.

With President Trump—who will never meet the impossible standards of his "purist" conservative detractors—the glass is definitely more than half full, by any fair assessment. As such, the nitpicking sour grapes—coming from those who are grasping at straws in order to be negative—is patently absurd.

President Trump is doing an exemplary job against almost impossible odds—not to mention an attempted coup—and I, for one, will give him the benefit of the doubt, barring some kind of heinous departure from the policies stated during his campaign. And that has not occurred.

Inasmuch as conservatives are getting almost everything they've asked for on immigration, it's the knee-jerk complainers who look foolish—especially when they accuse Trump loyalists of being "neocons and globalists" simply because they're able to see the bigger picture, instead of getting bogged down by counterproductive recriminations...

Let’s see, your signup date is Dec. 2016. So you were zotted and returned with a new screen name, or other?

Anyone who takes ANY MSM outlet aka “Fake News” at face value as though it’s the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is either stupider than a ziplock bag full of dirt or wants to peel support off of Trump.

Are you crazy? Yeah that has worked so well for republicans in the past, allowing amnesty hoping to get votes. Trump was supposed to be different, looking out for American, which these people are not.

This is such a disappointment.

160 a day is still over 50,000 a year. Half a million over 10 years.

Even the daily numbers like a car salesman saying an upgraded stereo will only cost you $0.50 a day.
