Jennifer Lawrence survived a scary situation on Saturday that put her life at risk when the private jet she was on was forced to make an emergency landing due to engine failure.

The 26-year-old Oscar-winning actress was travelling on a flight that had taken off from her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky when one of the engines shut down at 31,000 feet.

The pilot seemed to have things under control as he headed the plane to an emergency landing in Buffalo, New York. But then, in a harrowing event that echoed the real life story told in the recent Warner Bros. movie Sully, the second engine shut down.

I’ll bet she’s going to think twice about flying her private jet again...

I’ve been flying small aircraft for forty years with tens of thousands of flight hours. I train about two hundred pilots a year, many with experience similar to mine

On the plus side, you'll still be able to vote Democrat, CFIIIMEIATP737... 😀

I consider her more limited: very good in some roles, rather flat in others.

The cost of flying private is offset by the amount saved in productive time. Even if that time is used just to sleep on the plane.

Thanks for the math!

I think the Kushners likely flew commercial for the PR, which also has value.

Please be reasonable. There are thousands of general aviation aircraft operations per day. That means there should be dozens of fatalities every day.

Sure, underwriters ask about flying. I own two life insurance policies. If the fatal rate was one in 500, do you think anyone would insure me?

I would guess that it stands to reason --- dumping large concentrations of CO2 at altitude (in the article 31,000 ft elevation was mentioned) would be vastly more significant in recapture of IR radiation (transforming that into heat) that otherwise would be escaping back into "space" in IR spectrum, than the same amount of CO2 would be nearer to the ground ---where in seasons of green growth, significant amounts are taken up by plant life.

Where are the computer models? We must have computer models. [a.k.a clown 'science']

"I know that we’re talking jet fuel versus gasoline."

Next time your at an airport get a whiff of that jet exhaust. It's a lot nastier than your car. Then watch them leave from behind and notice the brown cloud.

Not so much excellent reporting. What the airplane type?

The legacy Learjets can have fuel transfer problems that would cut a trip short.

Are we supposed to care? Hollywood depicts the president getting beheaded call for his assassination. I hope all their private jet engines fail and next time without the recovery.
