Two Sponsors Drop Out Over Trump-Like ‘Julius Caesar’ (Trump lookalike 'murdered' onstage in NYC)

New York’s Public Theater lost support from two high-profile corporate donors on Sunday, Delta Air Lines and Bank of America, amid intense criticism of its production of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” which depicts the assassination of a Trump-like Roman ruler.(snip)

“Their artistic and creative direction crossed the line on the standards of good taste,” the company said. “We have notified them of our decision to end our sponsorship as the official airline of the Public Theater effective immediately.”

Bank of America followed hours later, saying it would withdraw financial support from the production of “Julius Caesar” but would not end its financial relationship with the theater, which a spokeswoman, Susan Atran, said had lasted for 11 years.

“The Public Theater chose to present ‘Julius Caesar’ in a way that was intended to provoke and offend,” Ms. Atran said. “Had this intention been made known to us, we would have decided not to sponsor it. We are withdrawing our funding for this production.”(snip)

The theater, its financial supporters and its production of “Julius Caesar” have recently faced a wave of criticism online and in right-leaning media outlets.(snip)

But the play’s treatment of Caesar’s grisly assassination has also been questioned by theater critics, including Jesse Green of The New York Times. In his review, he wrote that the depiction of a Trump-like Caesar’s “bare, wound-ripped flesh” — something not called for in the original text — may make viewers wonder, “Has it gone too far?”

Criticism of the play reached a fever pitch on Sunday when Fox News reported that it “appears to depict President Trump being brutally stabbed to death by women and minorities.”snip)

Candi Adams, a spokeswoman for the Public, declined to comment on Sunday night on the uproar.

There is no line anymore. I'm thinking that the true expression of the left's views is a good thing politically, but probably not culturally.

Just like the "Pride" march, now the "Resist" march. No conservatives allowed, gay or not. Kind of like the Women's march, no conservative women allowed, especially those who are pro-life.

Let them keep it up.

Yes! As disturbing as it is to see these hateful vulgar vindictive outbursts against POTUS DJT, the reality is: Our side is in power and they are not! We are winning and they are losing! And they are displaying the hate, intolerance violence that is their true ugly nature.

What a lame-ass production. It's absurd to compare an elected American president to a Roman dictator. When Orson Welles did his "fascist" version in the 1930's he was at least using tyrants like Mussolini and Hitler as role models for Hitler (without actually making Caesar look like either character). It is obvious the producers of this production merely wanted to stage a grisly assassination of Trump onstage, Shakespeare be damned.

Typical of today's "director's theater", in which the production is all about how big a splash the director can make with no regard to the text.

The left, deep state and establishment (D’s) and (R’s) tried for a legal coup with the Russian crap and failed. Now they are hoping for and openly suggesting the murder of a president. God forbid these totalitarian ghouls are successful!

What will CNN, NYT, Hollyweirdos, McInsane, The Weekly Double Standard and NRO say if some horrible crime is committed? We didn’t mean that, we are so sorry.

BULLSH*&T!!! If they go that far, it’s on against all of them.
