President Trump will not unconditionally cooperate with special counsel Robert S. Mueller IIIs recently opened investigation into Russias interference in the 2016 election and any possible coordination with the Trump campaign, a defense lawyer for Trump signaled on Sunday. The lawyer, Jay Sekulow, also questioned the appropriateness of Muellers advance review of the prepared testimony that former FBI Director James B. Comey delivered last week to the Senate Intelligence Committee.

This special counsel cannot bring charges. He can merely turn in a report to the AG. His investigation can be limited in scope and budget by the AG. He is nothing like the powers a special prosecutor like Starr had.
Muller cannot offer immunity. He is not a prosecutor. Congress or the AG can.
So since Sessions is recused does it go to rosenstein?
Does a “Special Counsel” have any prosecutorial powers other than suggesting a prosecution?
Does he do anything more than write a report?
According to Gingrich this morning, he doesn’t like at all who Mueller has brought on board to expand his investigation. Newt said some of these guys have been in trouble before for I think he implied for withholding evidence, whatever, it was a serious charge.
Newt also said anybody who thinks this will be an impartial exercise “is crazy”.
I find it extraordinary that Muellar allowed Comey to testify at all, on Thursday. They’re best friends in the business, after all, mentor and disciple. What ground were they trying to lay out? Were they baiting Trump, on the WH tape possibility?
Thanks for that info. I didn’t know of Mueller’s limitations, compared to the past run amok licence for Specials.
Now I understand better why Mueller is called Special COUNSEL, and not a Special Prosecutor.
They're fighting the last war - the Clinton impeachment war.
They really think it's going to go down like that.
They're not counting on a few million p*ssed-ff Trump supporter bees from a thoroughly enraged beehive.
NO.
“So since Sessions is recused does it go to rosenstein?”
didn’t rosenstein appoint Mueller?
“Russias interference in the 2016 election”
WHAT INTERFERENCE! Do these people even have an idea what they’re looking for in this nonsense?
It’s utter nonsense
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WE LOST!
How much tax payer money is being spent jerking off these power hungry sleaze balls in government.
My language tonight is bad but I’m done.
Lazy a$$3$. Fool around until they go on vacation. Overpaid.
This whole business could lead to a constitutional crisis if our government agencies don’t start doing the right thing and pretty quick. Mueller should step down and congress needs to worry about investigating the right things rather than keep up with this witch hunt.
This is war. Attack. Attack. Attack.
I am pretty sure any immunity offer would have to be approved by DOJ. Mueller is just a special COUNSEL, not a prosecutor.

Just to be clear: US Attorneys, and a Special Counsel, have to get approval from DOJ hierarchy and a federal judge to grant formal immunity.
There can be informal deals that might fall under prosecutorial discretion, but that seems unlikely in such a high profile case.
I believe bloggers are making stuff up and FReepers are hyperventilating.
Who's to say that hasn't happened? Remember, Sessions has recused himself so only Rosenstein and a judge is needed. Any judge in the Swamp would easily do that, and also keep it quiet.
