There is almost universal bewilderment over President Trump raising the possibility that his conversations with James Comey were captured by a recording system he had installed in the White House. Memories immediately turn to the experience of President Nixon with White House tapes being subpoenaed. That did not end well for Nixon, and raising the possibility that Trump White House conversations could be subject to subpoenas – perhaps from a Democrat-controlled House of Representatives in 2019 – has both friends and foes of the president scratching their heads.

Foreign government... maybe. Possibly. I’m much more worried about the U.S. liberals conducting surveillance of DJT. I’m way more scared of the libs.
After reading some speculation here, I have concluded the conversations were not taped...... they were I phoned. That is, comey recorded the conversations on his I phone or some small digital recording device. Those recordings were discovered when his office was sacked the day he was fired.

Actually, that is the basis of my speculation. Confronting Comey directly would not destroy his credibility but goading him into exposing himself would. A tape confirming Comey's duplicity with a clear explanation of why it was necessary to tape him would defeat the "Nixon Taping System" argument. In any event, the next couple of weeks should be interesting.
That’s what I think is the reason Trump insinuated there may be tapes.
Heard some of the whining msm urinalist griping the had been relegated to the ‘Siberia section’ of the press area the other day. Freakin’ WAAAAAA!

Also, Trump was aware that Comey and his surrogates had been leaking to the press for months and knew after being fired, Comey would only become bolder in his leaking.
The tweet was basically calling out Comey for having been a leaker via surrogates to the press for months. So the tape comment was letting Comey know that Trump knows he via his surrogates have been leaking anti-Trump stories for months. And Comey the Leaker better hope there are not recordings of their conversations.
Trump likely did not tape the conversations. However, he wanted to let Comey, his surrogates and the Press know that Trump was aware that one of the leakers was actually the head of the FBI. It appears Comey via his surrogates to the NYT and WP were printing articles leaded by Comey for months.
Trump pulled the rug out from under Comey who was slow walking the investigation in an effort to dray it out until the 2018 Mid-Terms, and then leak the memo during that time.
This is all about Trump exposing the lies about the Russian story and getting fake investigation on the fast track and expose that the whole investigation was based on lies and politically motivated by Comey.
Why wasn't Comey pursing the leaks? Trump asked everyone to find out who the leakers were, yet Comey refused to make it a priority. Only the Russian investigation was a priority for Comey? Why didn't Comey want to get to the bottom of the leakers? Because he was a leaker himself.
Remember all that digging under the WH to supposedly install computer doohickeys?
Because he knew right where they were.
I was roughly probing the timeline of "Flynn contact with Russia" and events following. The fact that Flynn was under investigation was also leaked.
That sets up the honey-pot theory, where Flynn "did a minor wrong on purpose" to get Trump's enemies to come into Trump's view.
Another thing with Flynn, like the other Trump/Russia investigations. Comey had no intention of EVER closing them. Keeping them open is his excuse to keep the muh Russia fires burning, while hoping for a processs crime, which is the ONLY thing currently open vs. Flynn. That is, if we believe Comey's testimony on that point.

I have thought the same thing. This goes deep into the bowels of corrupt DC politics — both DemocRAT and GOP. I believe there is blackmail involved from the bottom up — be it sex or money or whatever. There is a dossier on everyone. No one is immune, so no one will speak the truth for fear of being outed. Newbies to DC, no matter how good their intentions, find out very quickly how the game is played. If they don’t play by the DC rules, they will become persona non grata. Mr. Trump’s life is and has been an open book. He is not DC, so he threatens the insider’s delicate balance of power and their ability to run DC they way they want. That is why they want to take him out. JMHO
I'd say Trump knew the NYT article on the 11th was coming out before Comey was fired.
Now here's scenario....After Comey gave Hillary a free pass....and after the election....and talk of Trump-Russian collusion, Trump immediately started a tracking record for Comey. Something was wrong.....very wrong.
Eventually, and provoked by their very first meeting, it led right to the Professor. Insert the dots as necessary. And THAT's why Trump met with Comey....to catch the leaker(s).
So my guess is....that all of Trump's statements, questions at the meetings were a set up....to catch a leaker. And the LEAKERS came through.
Comey, the brilliant lawyer and lawman....got set up!!
Sessions resigned because he couldn't go along with Comey.
One things for sure...he has something.
Which may be exactly why Trump said, "you had better hope there aren't any tapes".

I’m with you, I think the whole thing from the beginning was a set up to catch deep state. Flynn was trumps partner. Always has been. Remember Flynn is intel specialist BEST ELECTION EVER
I wish the positive news threads got more than ten comments. FR is wonderful, but it’s exhausting coming on here and seeing article after article of media types spewing the same BS.
