Homeland Security Secretary John F. Kelly said Wednesday that his agents are not actively trying to deport illegal immigrant Dreamers, but pleaded with Congress to pass a bill granting them a more permanent legal status, saying only lawmakers can solve the problem. Mr. Kelly declined to take a position on whether the 2012 amnesty President Obama created for Dreamers is legal, but said the program, known in government circles as DACA or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, is still in effect. He said “illegals” who have been properly approved for DACA will be safe from deportation, but said those who haven’t applied, and some who were approved despite having criminal records that should make them ineligible, will be deported. One of those Dreamers, Jessica Colotl, will be in federal court Thursday asking a judge to reinstate her DACA status after it was revoked earlier this year. Her case could determine whether DACA is a discretionary grant that can be revoked, as the Obama and Trump administrations have argued, or whether it’s a right enforceable by the courts. “When my DACA status was taken away from me, it basically took my life away,” Ms. Colotl said on a conference call with reporters Wednesday. “It was an arbitrary decision. I had been granted DACA before and nothing about my circumstances had changed.”

Rand Paul did the same thing last week over CBP searching electronics as part of border inspections. Rand Paul thinks cell phones should have some special protection from border inspections. If so, he needs to work that problem through Congress. I'm sure child porn traffickers will be very happy.
This all goes back to an extremely long period of time where neither party has been interested in enforcing the standing laws on the books. The snap back to law and order is going to be a bit of a shock.

Like rewarding any illegal activity, rewarding illegals only encourages them and results in more of the same behavior. This is obvious to all except those in power in the isolated DC Swamp.
Trump promised to unwind Obama’s action on this his first day in office.
But clearly he has decided to reneg on that.
The People’s Laws, created by the People’s Representatives, are openly ignored.
The center will not hold.
Maybe he didn’t mean it..or maybe he has realized it is a political hot potato and doesn’t want to take the hit..or maybe Jared and Ivanka changed his mind...
whatever the case...I have said for some time the writing has been on the wall about DACA.
Of course, I got blasted and was called a nevertrumper..but it has been obvious to me he was not going to end DACA
He IS doing many things to try to combat the overall problem, though.

Trump had promised to repeal Obama’s DACA on day one of his administration—instead he’s still handing out the candy.
The problem is that they are here illegally.
They should not be rewarded with legal residency or citizenship.
Yes congress should pass a bill to solve the problem.
A bill that demands that Homeland Security do its job, obey the law, and deport every illegal they come in contact with.
If the illegals want legal residency they should go to the land of their birth.
Murder is another problem.
If we made murder legal and granted pardons to all convicted murderers would the problem go away?
Or would it become worse?

Doesn’t really matter why he did it. He is gonna pizz off a lot of his supporters with this one. Immigration was the #1 reason a lot of people supported and voted for him.
This is found hard to believe. DJT is aware of American’s feelings on this matter. If he were to swiftly grant dreamer’s citizenship he knows he would betraying us.
I’ll await the final outcome as to how this might be handled. He has stated that dreamers should remain in country — as to their status while here, THAT remains the question. It’s all in the details and until they are known, making a commitment is simply impossible.
Ok...but unless you were legally born here you DO NOT GET TO VOTE...make that a law and watch everything change.

Those who reply -”do not let these foreigners come here to give birth at our expense” I agree with. Obamacare gives these foreigners free healthcare. These illegals having kids at our hospitals free is a joke on us. I recall a sign in an ER in Nashville some years back. If you are Hispanic you don’t have to pay. All others pay.

If Kelly is prioritizing getting rid of illegal alien felons and/or security threats first, I don't have a problem with that. FWIW.
