The Sinn Fein MP’s never take their seats in Parliament so they are just a footnote in the election records.
“I was just thinking, earlier this morning, about how EVERYTHING that our dear troops and ALL of the Allied troops did/SACRIFICED for UK, et al, during WWII is exactly what is being allowed to creep/come back in. There and even here :(”
I have thought this too, but. . .
a victory doesn’t last forever.
They (we) won WW2 - and it was of great value - we had another generation of freedom -
but now it’s our generation’s turn to preserve freedom, and so on down the line.
If only a “win” was final. But it’s not.
“Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty.” Patrick Henry.
“All glory is fleeting.”
Amen.
If you want a half-decent Brexit you have to accept free movement of EU-natives in the UK. Then they may let you in the common market. Without that concession I do not see a chance. Therefore I think they will rather make an example of kicking you out in a very unpleasant way. Your coming gouvernments are weak and not able to compromise. A bone hard Brexit is the most likely scenario.
This will hit the UK economy in its basement. The outlook is disastrous.
.
Total Bullshit.
Europe is over, and the quicker Britain exits, the more strength they will be able to maintain.
The euroboobs went for the fecal ring, and it is all over everything they do.
Parliament definitely moved to the left, new Tories in Scotland probably more liberal than those that lost in England. Scottish Tory Leader (didn’t run for Parliament) is a big star now, she’s a lesbo.
If you told me +12 in Scotland but they would lose seats net I’d have said put down the crack pipe. Separate dynamics, just like Quebec in the Canadian elections.
The DUP seems better than the Tories on most things, they’re social conservatives and some don’t worship “climate science”. Not that they will have any effect nationally on those issues. This might mean good things for the local governance of NI though, keep queer marriage illegal there.
But they are fans of welfare that the Tories want to cut and they have specific brexit demands.
I heard the a-hole Labour House of Lords may feel they have a free hand to obstruct since the Tories didn’t win an outright majority. Should have put Lords abolition in the Tory manifesto, it would have won votes.
Uh well.
For the UK that sells more than 30% of its goods to what you call “Euroboobs”it is indeed essential. The amount they sell into the EU is 3 or 4 times more as they sell into the US. Their banks will loose the right to work in Europe. If you ask me the Brits will be toasted soon while countries in central Europe have good prospections.
You should be careful with absolute and unreflected statements.
Nope we will never accept free movement we do want i and we voted against it.
If the EU wants to play hard ball then they will sink far faster than us. We might just survive, they won’t.
We all will survive it. Nevertheless it is not me that has to deal without the common Market or without a bank licence for central Europe. It is not us who was deindustrialized since the 1980ties. We Europeans wish you well. Somehow I am afraid your preconditions are not that funny.
It is childish to think the hard working Poles who immigrated into the UK will forgive you your racism. We all know that not the Europeans from the West (Germany and France) were your problem. Have fun wirh those angry Poles.
You seem to know about these things.
I am reading another forum and Irishmen there claim that some of the DUP councilmen want to bring back padlocking the swings in parks for Sundays as it used to be in the 60s because by their interpretation Sunday must be No-fun-day.
Is this an exaggeration or real?
It won't happen, but she ought to. Replacing one anti-Brexit CINO (Cameron) with another anti-Brexit CINO (May) was utterly pointless to begin with.
So, wait, when they're supposedly "popular" prior to the coalition government, when Nick Clegg was running a populist campaign against the establishment, they lose seats.
When they're supposedly "unpopular" under Tim Farron and have lost all credibility for being in a "coalition" government under Cameron, they gain seats.
Either the UK opinion polls are worthless, or british people are smoking some good stuff when they go vote.
Sure, Fidel's fanboy is not a Marxist. And Saudi Arabia ain't Muslim, either!
Didn’t he take his honeymoon of at least one of his marriages in the USSR?
That doesn’t sound like a Fabian socialist to me, sounds like a Marxist to Stalinist socialist.
Maybe he has “evolved” since then?
The Conservative Party has been arguing for years that the House of Lords should be popularity elected, they should have used the bully pulpit to push for that. As an added bonus, it will make the anti-17th amendment "conservatives" cry when politicians can't appoint other politicians to run the upper house.
I’ve heard he also flew red flag once in front of the capitol of the town he was Mayor in.
Do you think that the two recent terrorist incidents in Britain worked against the incumbent party?
True, they do seem to the right of the Conservative Party, but I'd argue that's only because the so-called "Conservatives" since the David Cameron era have campaigned as Labour Party-lite. I see very little difference ideologically between Cameron and a "center-left" New Labour figure like Tony Blair. There are actual conservative Conservatives, but the party leadership wants to get a pat on the back from the media for embracing homo marriage, tree hugging, the EU, etc., and that hasn't changed under Theresa May. May doesn't inspire her party's base to come out to the polls, nor fills her party with confidence that they can lead the UK.
The DUP isn't afraid to stand on actual conservative policies, but aside from being a regional party that only runs in Northern Ireland, their basic premise forces socially conservative Catholics in Northern Ireland to vote against their own self-interests if they want a conservative government. To support the DUP means supporting the monarchy and Protestantism as the "official" state religion.
The other "more conservative" party in the UK, the UKIP, has nothing to campaign on now, and I imagine will fade into oblivion.
In an ideal world, Liam Fox would have succeeded Cameron, fought for and implemented actual conservative policies, and would be leading a unified Conservative Party to a victory nationwide now.
May's "snap election" is reminiscent to me of Ahnuld calling a special election in California to pass his "reforms", and it blowing up in his face big time. Good idea on paper, but implemented horribly.
I’m not in tune enough to the situation on the ground there, to give you a reasoned answer. I don’t know.
It would seem that folks are certainly tired of this, but do they see the other party as a better option on this issue?
I don’t think so, but I may be wrong there. I’m just not sure.
