Three Democratic governors said Thursday they wont let the United States back away from a commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, despite President Donald Trump decision to withdraw from an international pact.
This is an insane move by this president, California Gov. Jerry Brown said, blasting the decision as deviant behavior from the highest office in the land.
Brown joined Gov. Jay Inslee of Washington state and Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York to form the U.S. Climate Alliance to uphold the Paris climate agreement, a pact involving nearly 200 nations aimed at slowing the warming of the planet. The three states already belong to an emissions reduction pact of states and cities worldwide, but Thursdays action marked a direct stand against the Trump administration and a formal commitment to upholding the targets of the Paris agreement.
Connecticut Gov. Dan Malloy and Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe also expressed interest in joining the new pact.
We governors are going to step into this cockpit and fly the plane, Inslee told reporters. The president wants to ground it were going to fly it.

This is unconstitutional. States can’t enter into foreign agreements.
thsi would be akin to a few states forming an alliance to be beholden to international law against the wishes of a sitting president and subverting htis nation’s sovereignty
In my book, that is treason against the coutnry
the word dumbass pops in to my head.
nor can they uphold one when the president has withdrawn from one either
STFU Moonbeam!
They want to “fly the plane” into a mountain, like that lunatic German pilot
This reminds me a lot of the lead-up to the first Civil War...
Not a one of these states is in the black, so sending the tax dollars, of their respective citizenry, off to China, India, etc., is out of the question.
How are they going to control electricity, power plants, etc.; more stupid taxes? If so, they'll just continue to lose population, which they can ill afford.
States are NOT "sovereign nations" and must abide by the laws of the USA. Somebody needs to alert these cretins of this fact.
Exactly right.
Never mind their subversion of the republican form of government at state level.
Sensible citizens and corporate executives should prepare to sue these states. Conservative donors and NGOs should prepare to support and fund such lawsuits.
Conservative governors in other states should start loudly welcoming companies to relocate!!
Make this all blow up in the libtard faces.
The same idiots who believed Hillary would win in a landslide now believe the weather forecast for 100 years from now.
He’s certainly got no leg to stand on to call anyone “insane” or accuse them of “deviant behavior”, being the biggest promoter of insanity and deviancy in his own state.
I suspect they intend to try to pass state regulations and taxes aimed at comparable reductions in emissions etc., funding more “green” initiatives, sending money to international “green” funds and 3rd World support, etc.
Lawsuit city!
Governors of other states should start loudly calling for businesses to relocate to more business-friendly states.
Citizens and activist groups should file lawsuits based upon constitutional and other legal problems with states taking such a role.
hmmmmm...a civil war over carbon taxes?
hmmmmm...a rebellion war over whiskey taxes?
You keep running your states toward the Illinois or Venezuela model of socialist economic failure (into the ground); driving businesses, jobs and high wage earners into my state of Arizona and other Red states. You will reap what you sow, so enjoy your man-made global warming horror fantasy and waste your resources tilting at windmills. Have at it, and go ahead and feel smugly self-righteous while you are at it.
And, here is a great Tweet on the subject that I read this morning:
@JamesGRickards: World's most powerful know global control is by money, not military. Climate agenda, regs, & taxes are just an update on the Trojan Horse....
...which was never even ratified by the Senate.
No, they just voluntarily, or by acts of their legislatures actually, adhere to whatever parts of the Paris agreement they can.
I suspect they will not be pumping billions of dollars overseas though. That part they will likely not go along with.
