Transit Cop Fired after Asking for Rider’s Immigration Status

The City of Minneapolis terminated a part-time transit police officer after he questioned the immigration status of a bus passenger. The inquiry came up after it appeared the man, later confirmed to be an illegal alien, could not provide proof of purchasing bus fare. An illegal alien apparently had no answer to whether or not he had paid the fee on a Minneapolis Metropolitan Transit bus. When questioned about his fare and immigration status, a rider with a Hispanic accent asked the transit officer, “Are you guys authorized to act as immigration police?” The rider added, “It’s very touchy legal territory.”

Ricardo Levins Morales, an artist and practitioner of medicinal art, filmed the exchange and posted the video that went viral. It has over 1.1 million views. Morales is the voice in the video that questioned the officer.

It has been my premise for years that our mas transit systems are in large part the transportation system we have provided to illegal aliens.

In some areas of the nation this premise holds up better than others, but in some areas I wouldn’t be surprised of 75% or more riders at any given time are illegal aliens.

God forbid the public hear that just prior to tax increases or the call for expanding the lines.

I hope Ricardo Levins Morales will be arrested and prosecuted for harboring or aiding illegals. Someone needs to look into ALL of his actions. As for the cop who went beyond his official duties, he needs a good lawyer. He may well have been within his rights, either as a transit cop or as a good citizen.

Note: I wonder what the law says on a “citizen’s arrest” of a non-citizen whose crime was illegal entry into our country.

Have’t watched the video. Maybe the guy should apply to Border Patrol. And the city should lose federal funding. Hopefully this illegal alien thief is deported as well.
