Residents at three public housing areas now have a mini-fleet of free Zipcars to make their way around Sacramento. On Friday, Sacramento launched a pilot program that put eight shared electric Kia Souls at public housing sites. Up to 300 residents can apply for on-demand access to the vehicles, with no charge for maintenance, insurance or juicing up the battery.

Nice, but the old White guys driving around in beat up clunkers might resent that and think the politicians hate them and love certain parasites for their votes and money.

I thought this was satire when I saw it a couple of weeks ago. I guess Sacramento is just one big case of satire!

So the city is paying for insurance for a multitude of undetermined drivers with unknown driving history.

How soon before one is involved in a serious accident because of a DUI driver?

The insurance cost has to be astronomical! What company would write a policy like that?

More free crap is not helping these deadbeats one bit. It is high time that every able bodied person on welfare show up for 8 hours of public work like picking up trash, mowing and weeding city/county property etc. This sit on your fanny and play games on your free phone, pop out more welfare kids, etc. has to STOP.

How many drug use and deals will go down in these cars? Since it’s already a social experiment with these cars, they m9ight as well place hidden cameras inside to see the crime they produce here.

Except that this is in Sacramento rather than SF. The cars may have enough range to reach SF but I doubt it.

I don’t usually watch network TV, but I think I would watch a reality TV show based on this. (Although I don’t think it would make it to a second season. Or even through most of the first season.)

By “free” do they mean they dropped out of heaven from God and there’s absolutely no cost?

I don’t think that’s what happened. I think it’s more like California taxpayers are paying

The news media reports these kinds of things without considering that a lot of the people who pay and don’t get recognized for it are running out of money and, in this case, are moving to Texas, which is bad enough with their acceptance of FSA

The media doesn’t consider the providers of this “free” stuff voted for Trump so that he will stop this nonsense. We know he knows enough about the value of a dollar to tell people like this and like NATO to quit taking from us

It’s why the media doesn’t get why they can’t get us to hate Trump.

They’re so frustrated.

It’s not free

Just duh

Will Sacramento use asset-forfeiture on itself when the cars are used for drug deals and prostitution?

CAPITALISM for POOR PEOPLE

I give this as a freebie to the San Fran welfare commies. How to turn a subsidy into free beer dollars.

Buy several sets of used tires. Sorry but capitalism does have an initial cost.

Grab a free zip car.

Hide your identity with a fake ssn # or become illegal.

The easy part. Swap the zip car new tires with the older tires. A zip car with worn tires, is a safety hazard. San Fran will glady re-upgrade.

Sell the new tires.

Use your profit to buy free beer.

Save some profit to purchase another set of old tires.

Use your new found knowledge of capitalism, to get a real better paying job.

:-)

Interestingly, what if one enterprising soul decides to Uber from the freebie? Liberal skull implosion.

Unless the users are truly hard working people who take care of their things, these will be ruined. Sadly. Respect for property and leaving things nicer than you found it, while no one is looking!!! is sorely lacking in the human race.

Without supervision we often just trash stuff. If we are the type who will not or due to mental illness can not work, well, the odds are low for good stewardship.
