A man fatally stabbed two people and injured a third on a commuter train in Oregon’s largest city Friday as people confronted him for “yelling a gamut of anti-Muslim and anti-everything slurs,” a Portland police spokesman said.
Jeremy Joseph Christian, 35, was on a Metropolitan Area Express (MAX) light-rail train in Portland late Friday afternoon when he started yelling what “would best be characterized as hate speech toward a variety of ethnicities and religions,” police said in news release.
Christian may have directed slurs at two young women who witnesses described as Muslim, one of whom was wearing a hijab, Portland police Sgt. Pete Simpson told CNN.
As two men tried to calm him down, Christian stabbed them and one other man, police said.

Funny how quickly they knew there were two Muslim women on the train...and they make it sound like they were the main victims. Hell, it takes them forever to identify Muslim terrorist...and only after endless reports implying it wasn’t Islam involved.

I'm not sure what "intervened" means here.
I am going to speculate. Based on what I have read, it sounds like this guy was speaking/ranting to the Muslim woman and others overhearing it, jumped in and physically attacked the alleged suspect. And for their trouble were stabbed as the alleged suspect defended himself against possibly 3 to 1 odds, all males. And while this is going on, the two Muslim woman took off to parts unknown according to the cops.
And I could be wrong, but in that image, which I assume was obtained shortly after he was arrested, appears to have a head injury, just above his left eye.
NPR seems to get a lot of muslim as victim mileage off this carnage.
Can you imagine being a city of Portland cop and having to follow this idiot wearing a flag around while he is insulting people?
