Friday at the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce in Irving, TX, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said some President Donald Trump political problems were self-inflicted.
Cruz said, What Im trying to do is just ignore the circus.

Yeh, Felito stood at the convention put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger.
Cruz speaking the plain truth.
If he can deliver a legitimate Obamacare repeal and free-market replacement that can make it through the senate and conference with the house, he will become a national hero—despite his earlier misdeeds in a years-long spate of over-ambition.
“Trump needs to stick a sock in his mouth for once.”
That strategy worked out well for GWB. Silence is golden.
I could tolerate this statement from Cruz if I knew at the same time he ripped apart the media and all the other establishment politicians that have nothing but knives in the back of trump. But I don’t think Cruz did this and I’m not willing to go to the Breitbart site with all their ads blasting all over the place to find out.
At this point I see the GOP losing both houses in 2018.
I have never seen anything more pitiful in my entire life than the GOP.
There really are not words that accurately describe how much I loathe and detest the abomination that is the GOP.
The worst kind of fake ‘friend’ in the world is the kind that sees everyone piling on you, unfairly, so they pile on too. It takes a special kind of snake in the grass to join in with people who are ***supposed*** to be their enemies in attacking the person whose side they are ***supposed*** to be on.
His mouth is what got him the job, bigly. Now it’s about following through.
A leader of such courage is bound to have a "moment or two" that others may not be inclined to be happy about.
Yet here we have a man who in his late years forsook a life of inconceivable luxury after years of hard, back breaking work to sacrifice his personal time with family enjoying the fruits of his labor so he could serve the American people.
And not just serve the people, but promote ideas with the zeal and commitment that we have not seen since the founding fathers took on King George while literally being surrounded by British troops.
And he has suffered attacks of the like we have never seen outside of any historical prelude to war.
So yeah, he had a couple of moments. You know what Ted, as a former donor, piss off if you don't like it. Otherwise get in line and support him like your career depended on it, because it does. The rest of us? Buckle up, this ride isn't going to get any easier.
Just like it was time for the strong medicine of a Trump for president, it is probably time for the strong medicine of a Newt for chief of staff.
“I don’t know why anyone would give Cruz any grief over this statement. Like it or not, he’s right about this.”
But it comes across to me, that he is taking both sides of the topic.
Like many political figures. Keeping options open, to turn either way.
I see your point. They largely have been pitiful through this. That’s why we need to primary the RINOs out.
Trump, unfortunately, through relying on the idiotic advice of his daughter and SIL has brought his enemies into his own tent while effectively keeping his loyal supporters out.
If Trump falls, it will be to his own misguided actions and personnel decisions.
I don’t know why anyone would give Cruz any grief over this statement. Like it or not, he’s right about this.
And I don’t know why you’d make that statement. POTUS is fighting five or more political nuclear wars right now. Now is not the time for ANYBODY in his own party to be sniping at him. Especially somebody prominent like sore loser Cruz. That he is providing aide and comfort to the enemy is totally unacceptable.
None are self inflicted.
Only a liberal or never Trumper would surmise that.
News creation and Soros and Republican traitors are responsible.
Oh Ted. Taking some time out from shaming voters to disrespect Trump.
You’re an ass act.
‘Because the last thing Trump needs is another republican publicly criticizing him. No doubt Cruz is correct but providing more MSM ammo is
a more then a bit disloyal and perhaps self serving. Instead defending the President the way the Rats would surely do the GOP is anxious to throw rocks at him from the sidelines.’
You’d think they could figure this out. Making high profile comments like this throws fuel on the Trump-haters’ fire, hurts Trump, and helps only the left. If Cruz believes this, then there is a more constructive, helpful way to communicate it to Trump.
And IMAGINE - some people on this site gave me crap when I said that I’d vote against Cruz in the Primary...regardless of who ran against him. Now I’m getting close to voting against Cruz in the general election, if he even makes it that far.
Either we hang together, or we hang separately, as the saying goes. Cruz seems to like the second option.

At a media availability in Chicago, GOP Presidential candidate Ted Cruz blamed Donald Trump for the violence and protests that occurred earlier in the day at a Donald Trump rally at the University of Illinois-Chicago. The rally had to be cancelled due to safety concerns.

Excellent points. But for Cruz to go public with them right now wouldn’t be as self-serving as piling on the MSM’s hate wagon.
” Like it or not, he’s right about this.”
I would agree with that, but DOES NOT mean he has to say it. Cruz has other options than to side with the Left, like he also did with Chicago.
