Although many on the left have expressed their approval of Robert Mueller being appointed as special counsel to investigate possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Alan Dershowitz thinks Mueller could actually vindicate President Donald Trump, rather than bring about his downfall.
On "Tucker Carlson Tonight," Dershowitz, a legal scholar and Harvard University Law School professor, said he doesn't see a crime that necessitated the appointment of a special counsel.

He has to find something, in order to justify his salary, budget, and effort.
It's a bit like the ritual of Pesach (Passover), where the wife removes all the leavening from the home except for one small amount, so that the husband, when he comes upon it, can prove that he was really looking hard for it. Somebody's head is going to roll, someone is going to end up in prison, for some silly reason that will actually have nothing to do with the original charges, and when that happens, there will be a full-court press to either impeach Trump or emasculate him for the remainder of his term.
It wouldn’t surprise me to find that pajama boys are busy somewhere on a computer forging the necessary papers to prove Trump is a foreign agent just like they proved Obama is a native born citizen. Trust and verify!!
Finding no crimes committed is something
Mueller and his investigation will be discredited if he doesn’t come up with the findings that democrats want. Then, they’ll raise hell and demand that a new investigation be started. I don’t trust any of it.
A special counsel wasn’t appointed in Nixon’s case until there had been arrests, indictments, resignations, and convictions. There was proof of crimes, however minor. There are no known crimes, no indictments, no convictions in today’s situation. Even Dersh can see the problem here.
If “straight arrow” Mueller investigates Comey’s claim that Trump asked him to drop the investigation of the “Russian compromised “ Flynn, wonder if he will ask Comey if and how Obama/Lynch influenced his investigation and “decision” not to recommend an indictment of Hillary Clinton.
It is interesting that Dershowitz is quite sure that no crime has been committed. In order for him to state that, he has to know the inner working of the dems regarding this witch hunt. He has to know that the dems are making this stuff up, or he wouldn’t be saying with such confidence that there is no crime.
Special Counsel John Danforth did not have a problem finding there were no crimes in Janet Reno’s handling of the Waco Massacre.
I think a serious turning point for Alan Dershowitz came when Barack Obama gave Iran 150 billion dollars to kill Jews.
I think he realized he could be looking down the barrel of another Holocaust, and this time he could do something about it. This is real, and we should all take Muslims at their word; when they say they want to kill Jews and Americans they damn well mean it.
The Iranian deal was probably the most irresponsible action by a President in US history; it will lead to a group of psychotic religious fanatics getting their hands on nuclear weapons to kill a religious enemy who their prophet exhorted them to kill. Either it was act of cowardly evil, or it was an act of colossal stupidity. I lean towards the former but will accept the multitudinous arguments for the latter.
He has forced war upon Israel and strengthened an enemy that would love to see America reduced to ashes under a nuclear fire. Why would you do this? Why threaten civilization by helping those savages, who still celebrate the kidnapping of the American hostages. Now the world may be forced into hideous war to defend itself, because of Obama’s failings.
Trump ought to remind people what it at stake. Who the real enemy is, and who has threatened who with mass extinction.
That virus must be disabled or millions will perish.
The problem with special councils is that they are so unpredictable and unaccountable to anyone.
My problem with the whole episode is special prosecutors aren't there to find the truth. They are there to find a scapegoat.
There may be many to use for examples. Three come to mind: Maurice Stans of the Watergate era, Oliver North in Iran Contra and, most recently, Scooter Libby
I don't recall that Stans ever got rich in government. He was forced to use every dime he ever saved to defend himself. He did this just in time for retirement. The jury acquitted him of his main accusation, and it took the jury about 15 minutes. In the end he may have plead guilty to some misdemeanor or some such to pay some scapegoat fine and put it behind him.
Stans may have been the worst case, but Scooter Libby is certainly in the running. He was convicted of a crime that had zip to do with the original accusation i.e the Valerie Plame caper. This was so even though Fitzgerald (Special Counsel) knew who committed the original "crime" and that it wasn't a crime. Libby was pure scapegoat conjured by Fitzgerald out of thin air..
Given that most people have no idea this technology is out there, or how good it's getting, the potential for political mischief is obvious.
Dershowitz Says Special Counsel Will Help Trump: ‘He’s Going to Find No Crime’>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Bull Crap.
A speacial prosecutor may initiate with good faith but the Left will get to him. Why? Because the left ios still controlled by Clinton/Obama, they got rid of Sanders, and now will do anything to protect Clinton Abedin from prosecution for crimes committed. Comey formed one layer of his protection, which is why the left has been caterwauling about “Obstruction of Justice.”
The left want to have a line of apparent criminality against Trump which can hang over the President like the sword of Damocles, ( The Russians, Interfering with the administration of Justice, it goes on and on.)
What I find horrid is that the wavering Republicans in Congress do not support the president, and tackle the leftist opposition ion both Senate and House Committees. Its war. But the Republican Congress Critters are absent. Thats outrageous.
I think President Trump should double down and appoint Trey Gowdie as the new FBI director. The Clintins and Obama feel the cold, razor sharp steel of President Trump begin to brush caressingly over their mortified, putrid flesh. That’s a very good thing.
And the unmasking investigation needs to go further, those involved need to be brought to justice, including Susan Rice.
I agree. And it will make the media and the democrats look more stupid and out of touch than ever.
Mueller will be setting his perjury traps.
The wild card here is that the silly allegations involve collusion with a foreign government. There is a not-so-outlandish possibility that Russian operatives and diplomats would willingly speak to Mueller’s team, and this could undermine any falsified evidence very quickly.
What do you call something when is no evidence to support it?
When there is only allegations and speculation?
A conspiracy theory.
The Trump/Russia conspiracy theory is in tinfoil hat territory.
